    • An apparatus includes a chassis having an access panel mounted on the chassis for being moved between an open position and a closed position. A plurality of mounting flanges extend from an interior surface of the access panel. An elongated latch has a first end and a second end. The first end and the second end of the latch are slidably mounted between the interior surface of the access panel and a corresponding one of the mounting flanges. The latch is movable between a latched position and an unlatched position with respect to a flange portion of the chassis in a direction generally parallel to a longitudinal axis of the latch. A plurality of contoured resilient members are mounted between the latch and the access panel for biasing the latch to the latched position. A contoured portion of one of the resilient members is inverted from a contoured portion an adjacent one of the resilient members. The apparatus has a low profile with respect to system components mounted in the chassis and with respect to a rack that the chassis is mounted in. The configuration of the resilient members provides a center-balanced force with respect to a longitudinal axis of the latch, contributing to a smooth latch operation. Furthermore, the resilient members are capable of developing a relatively high force while occupying only a relatively small space.

The apparatus can further include an access terminal operably coupled to the first coupling interface and an expansion circuit coupled between the first coupling interface and the access terminal. The expansion circuit can electrically couple the first expansion terminal to access terminal.

    • The present invention provides a rack mount mechanism that includes first and second recessed slides fixed in a stationary position and first and second mounting brackets slideably mounted on the first and second recessed slides, respectively. The first and second mounting brackets each have front and back ends extending, for example, perpendicularly inward from the base of the mounting brackets. A frame is included which is attachable to the computer enclosure and has front and back rails. Each rail has an edge extending, for example, perpendicularly outward from the base of the rail and each edge has a plurality of apertures. An angled bar-nut is coupled to each of the rails by threading the angled portion of each angled bar-nut through an aperture in the edge of the rail and including a screw and a cage nut to secure the angled portion of each angled bar-nut to the edge of each rail. The front and back ends of the first and second mounting brackets are positioned between and coupled to each angled bar-nut and the edge of the front and back rails, respectively.
