    • A radio network provides centralized load control in order to control uplink interference in a cell while at the same time permitting adaptation to fast channel variations. The radio network sends to a mobile terminal a percentage of time that the mobile terminal may transmit over a radio channel in the uplink direction to the radio network. The mobile determines a current or future condition of the radio channel and restricts uplink transmissions based on the received percentage and the radio channel condition. Transmissions are restricted to times when the current or future condition is favorable up to the percentage amount. Channel condition favorability may be determined by the mobile station, in one example embodiment, by comparing the radio channel condition to an average condition of the channel, such as a local or moving average channel condition. Also in an example embodiment, the mobile may determine a current or future channel condition using transmit power control commands received from the radio network.

    • The present invention relates to an arrangement, a communication network node and a user equipment allowing for probing of alternative antenna configurations in a communication network system as well as a method for such probing. The method comprises making one of the reconfigurable antennas (15a2, 15b2) of at least one cell (19a, 19b) temporarily available for probing and reconfiguring one or more antenna parameters thereof in accordance with a probing antenna parameter set. A new probe cell (20a, 20b) is transmitted from the prepared antenna (15a2, 15b2) and measurement reports collected from the user equipments (18) within the at least one cell (19a, 19b) and the probe cell (20a, 20b). The probing antenna parameter set is evaluated based on the collected measurement reports whereupon is determined if the reconfigurable physical antennas (15a1, 15a2, 15b1, 15b2) of the cell shall use the probing antenna parameter set or the initial antenna parameter set. Finally the probing cell (20a, 20b) is removed and the antennas (15a1, 15a2, 15b1, 15b2) adjusted in accordance with the determination.

The mobile station obtains the information from the candidate radio base station during at least one reading gap. The reading gap is a time period in which the mobile station does not receive information from the serving radio base station.

Cell outage is determined in a network node (15b). One of the reconfigurable physical antennas (15a2) of at least one cell (19a) is made temporarily available for compensation. The available antenna (15a2,) is prepared for compensation by reconfiguring one or more antenna parameters thereof in accordance with a compensating antenna parameter set. A new compensating cell (20) is transmitted from the prepared antenna (15a2). Upon cell recovery the compensating cell (20) is removed and the reconfigurable physical antennas (15a2) of the compensating cell (20) returned to the initial antenna parameter set.
