    • An inflatable bag for airbag passive restraints for driver which comprises upper and lower circular base cloths of the same size seamed together at their outer peripheries and lateral regulating means for regulating inflation of the bag in lateral and upward directions and causing downward inflation, which means extends to link between an inner periphery of the lower base cloth and the outer peripheries in a shorter length than the radial distance therebetween, thus forming a sag portion on the lower cloth. When the bag is deployed, the lateral regulating means enables the sag portion to bulge sideways out of a steering wheel to protect a driver. The bag may further include upward restricting means for upward inflation. The lateral and the upward regulating means may be located in a whole circumferential area or within a range of 1/2 to 1/4 the circumference of both cloths. A method of producing the bag having lateral or both regulating means is characterized by using a third cloth of the same size having strap-like portion or portions defined by communicating hole or holes. After superposing and sewing of the lower, upper and third cloths, the strap-like portions are each raised and folded into two and sewn at two roots, thus forming the lateral means. Then the folded strap-like portions are cut at one root and the unfolded strap ends are sewn to the upper base cloth to form upward strap members.

    • An inflatable bag,for airbag restraint systems for a front seat passenger, of a quadrilateral prismoidal shape comprising a right-angled quadrilateral base portion adapted to face and receive the passenger by the extension of the bag upon deployment, a lip portion defining an opening for admitting gas from the system and adapted to be attached to a dashboard, upper and lower face portions, and lateral face portions having T-like or Y-like joints diverging from the lip to base portions and exhibiting a strap effect. The bag is made of a one-piece cloth, each outlining lateral side of which has longitudinally consecutive six sides of three triangular sections wherein two endmost sides and respective two adjoining sides have respectively an equal length, or longitudinally consecutive five sides wherein two endmost sides have an equal length and other two sides adjacent to the former have a total length equal to the length of a longitudinal side therebetween. When the cloth is longitudinally folded into two, the endmost sides are superposed and sewed together. Then, respective adjoining sides are superposed and sewed together, thus forming the Y-like joints and lateral face portions, or other two sides are superposed onto the longitudinal side and sewed together, thus forming the T-like joints and lateral portions, thereby shaping the prismoidal body, which is turned inside out to give the bag. The endmost sides may assume an arc-like line.

    • The present invention provides a fuel tank structure capable of securely suppressing deformation of a fuel tank by mutual contact of a pair of upper and lower interference sections at the time of deformation of tank by negative pressure. On a peak wall and a bottom wall of the fuel tank, an upper stand-off and a lower stand-off are formed face to face vertically with a certain interval therebetween. The lower stand-off is larger in diameter than the upper stand-off, and includes a general surface for contacting a projecting end of the upper stand-off during application of negative pressure, and an annular rib for preventing dropping of the projecting end. Therefore, at the time of application of negative pressure, deformation of the fuel tank can be securely suppressed.
