    • An electrophotographic copying apparatus having a movable mirror system for stripwise scanning an original laid on a support and directing the resulting light image stripwise via a stationary objective to a moving light sensitive medium is provided with a stationary slit located to a side of said support for exposure of a sheet-shaped original moved over the slit and with means including at least one mirror of the movable mirror system for stripwise projecting the light image from an original at the slit via said objective to the imaging medium. A single objective and imaging system thus serve for copying either sheet-shaped originals passed over the exposure slit or originals of various forms, including books, laid on said support.

    • In photocopying apparatus wherein originals are exposed stripwise by an optical system having reciprocable parts moved from rest position by a rope-like traction element, the time required for bringing these parts to the speed of the copying cylinder is limited by leading the traction element to a reel, by which it advanced for each exposure, over a roller spaced at a limited distance from the reel so that in an initial phase of rotation of the reel an angle between its periphery and the traction element is progressively diminished with corresponding gradual acceleration of said parts. The rate of acceleration and inertia effects at the outset of the reel movement can be further limited by fixing an end of the traction element in a recess having a side wall sloped smoothly inward from the periphery of the reel, so that the traction element will be engaged by that wall before being engaged and pulled upon said periphery.

    • A magazine is provided for receiving, storing a stack of and delivering successive sections of a long endless belt of flexible photoconductive sheet material which is pre-folded in zigzag manner for use in indirect electrophotographic copying processes. Oppositely disposed upright guide walls which, in downward direction, converge inwardly to a delivery opening between their lower ends define a storage space holding a large number of the zigzag-folded belt sections stacked one upon another in upwardly bowed postures with their respective folds disposed on opposite portions of the guide walls, so that a length of the belt extending through a processing path from the ends of the stack may easily be drawn continuously from the bottom thereof and redeposited in zigzag folds onto the top thereof. Successive folds entering the top of the magazine are alternately disposed on and pressed down along the opposite guide walls. Threshold members at the delivery opening and/or resilient members bearing elastically against opposite sides of the stack aid in maintaining the folded belt sections in the required upwardly bowed postures.
