    • A video tape recorder/player capable of selectively recording a wide-band video signal including information for forming a picture of an aspect ratio a.sub.1, and a normal video signal for forming a picture of an aspect ratio a.sub.2. The video tape recorder/player comprises video signal discriminating means for discriminating between the reproduced wide video signal and the reproduced normal video signal reproduced from a magnetic recording medium, and time expansion means for expanding the time base of the reproduced video signal by a factor approximately equal to the ratio a.sub.1 /a.sub.2. Either the reproduced video signal or the output signal of the time expansion means obtained by expanding the time base of the reproduced signal by the time expansion means can be selected as an output signal when the video signal discriminating means detects the wide video signal.

    • In a digital information recording/reproducing apparatus, information recorded on a hard disk with copy restriction thereof is protected from being copied onto other hard disks by means of a PC, etc., to be produced a large number of illegal copies, i.e., infringing a copyright.The information is recorded onto a hard disk drive through encryption thereof, with using an identification being number unique thereto, when it is recorded onto the hard disk. With this, normal reproduction is prevented, since the drive identification number necessary for decryption is different from, even if it is copied onto the other hard disk. Also, a version information of the hard disc is memorized in an information management circuit. When the information is illegally copied onto the other hard disc, the version information is changes; therefore it does not coincide with the version information memorized in the information management circuit. With this, illegal reproduction of the information copied can be prohibited in the reproducing operation.

    • A magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus wherein a moving picture signal and an audio signal following the moving picture are recorded and reproduced on a first area in a recording track inclined with respect to a traveling direction of a magnetic tape and digital data indicating a one-cut frame or a field) still picture signal is recorded and reproduced on a second area in the recording track. The apparatus includes a circuit for detecting that digital data indicating the still picture is reproduced by an amount of data corresponding to the one-cut still picture, a switch which is operated by a person who monitors pictures and used to instruct restart of the magnetic tape, and a logic circuit. The logic circuit generates an instruction for switching the reproduced signal output from the moving picture to the still picture on the basis of the output of the detection circuit, and instruction for rewinding the magnetic tape to a position near the recording start position of the digital data indicating the still picture and for stopping the magnetic tape thereat, and instruction for switching the reproducing signal output from the still picture to the moving picture signal when the switch is operated, and an instruction for causing the magnetic tape to travel once again at the normal traveling speed for reproducing a moving picture signal.
