    • An organic EL display device includes a moisture-resistant structural body which covers an upper surface and a side surface of an organic light emitting layer which is formed on a main surface of an insulation substrate and is formed by stacking a first moisture prevention layer, a moisture absorption layer, a second moisture prevention layer, and an adhesive layer which covers the upper and side surface of the organic EL layer. The first moisture prevention layer, the moisture absorption layer and the second moisture prevention layer on the side surface of the organic light emitting layer include portions are bent toward the side surface from the upper surface of the organic light emitting layer and, further, are bent parallel to a main surface of the insulation substrate from the side surface, and lower surfaces of the respective bent portions of at least one of the layers are hermetically adhered to the main surface of the substrate by the adhesive layer.

    • The present invention enhances a display quality of a display device as a task. As means for solving such a task, the present invention provides a display device including a light emitting element and a switching element in a pixel, wherein the switching element is provided for supplying a power source to the light emitting element and is constituted of a first switching element and a second switching element. The first switching element and the second switching element are configured to be operated, in response to inputting of data signals into the inside of the pixel, one switching element assumes a positive bias state and another switching element assumes a reverse bias state, and the bias states are alternately changed over between the first switching element and the second switching element in response to time-sequential inputting of the data signals, and the supply of the power source to the light emitting element is performed by way of either one of the first switching element and the second switching element.

    • The invention mainly provides an organic EL display device which can prevent the intrusion of moisture into an organic EL film by applying a thin film technique to the display device. For this end, the organic EL display device is configured such that (1) a lower electrode and an upper electrode are formed with an organic EL film sandwiched therebetween, an SiOxNy film which functions as a moisture proof film is formed to cover the upper electrode by a plasma CVD method, wherein the moisture proof film protects the organic EL film from moisture, (2) an inspection-use conductive film is formed on the moisture proof film 13, and (3) the presence or the non-presence of a defect in the moisture proof film is detected by applying a DC or AC voltage between the inspection-use conductive film and the upper electrode.

    • The present invention provides an organic EL display device which has a long lifetime. The organic EL display device includes a plurality of pixels each of which is constituted of a top-emission-type active matrix organic EL element. The top-emission-type active matrix organic EL element includes: a pixel electrode which is connected to an active element; a reflective layer arranged between the pixel electrode and an active element and is formed over a leveling layer; an organic light emission layer which is arranged on the pixel electrode; and a common electrode which is arranged on the organic light emission layer. The reflective layer includes: a first reflective layer which is made of high-melting-point metal; and a second reflective layer which is arranged on the first reflective layer and is made of alloy containing aluminum, an aluminum compound or aluminum silicide. The second reflective layer includes a planer pattern in which an outer periphery of the second reflective layer is surrounded by the first reflective layer. The pixel electrode covers the second reflective layer.

    • The invention allows a top-emission-type organic EL display device to use a chemically stable conductive film containing ITO for forming a lower electrode of an organic EL layer. The organic EL layer includes an electron injection layer, an electron transport layer, a light emission layer, a hole transport layer and a hole injection layer. An upper electrode which constitutes a transparent electrode is formed of an IZO film. A lower electrode adopts the two-layered structure consisting of a lower layer made of Al or an Al alloy having high reflectance and an upper layer formed of a chemically stable ITO film. To enable the injection of electrons from the ITO film which constitutes the lower electrode, the electron injection layer is formed using a film which is acquired by co-depositing Li and Alq3 at a molecular ratio of 3:1. Due to such a constitution, electrons can be injected from the ITO film thus realizing the top-emission-type organic EL display device.
