摘要： An image forming apparatus has a sheet processing unit for feeding a cover sheet and a folder for folding the cover sheet with a bundle of recording sheets. The sheet processing unit has a cover sheet feeder for feeding a cover sheet facing upward toward an image forming unit, a reversing unit for reversing the cover sheet so that the cover sheet faces downward, and a conveyor for conveying the reversed cover sheet to the folder in a switchback manner so that the front face of the cover sheet faces the folding roller pair. The folder has a thrusting member for thrusting the bundle of sheets toward the folding roller pair and discharging the folded bundle to a discharge tray.

摘要： An image forming apparatus has a sheet processing unit for feeding a cover sheet and a folder for folding the cover sheet with a bundle of recording sheets. The sheet processing unit has a cover sheet feeder for feeding a cover sheet facing upward in a first direction, a reversing unit for reversing the cover sheet so that the cover sheet faces downward, a conveyer for conveying the cover sheet in a second direction opposite the first direction and then conveying the cover sheet to the folder in the first direction. 摘要： When sheets with images formed thereon from an image forming apparatus and a special sheet such as a cover sheet are arranged in alignment into a bundle of sheets, conveyance of the special sheet from the stacking unit is started prior to conveyance of the sheets from the image forming apparatus, and the special sheet is temporarily halted on a conveyance path at a location intermediate between the stacking unit and a receiving unit, whereby no complicated operation by an operator is required and the productivity can be improved. Further, the special sheet will be switched (i.e. reversed) when it is conveyed to the receiving unit.

The sheet, the image-formed face of which was reversed facedown, is discharged from the printer unit to the finisher and, on the finisher, the sheet from the inserter is stacked as keeping its image-formed face facedown and the sheet from the printer unit is stacked as keeping its image-formed face facedown. The top and bottom of the image formed by the image forming apparatus corresponds to the top and bottom of the insert sheet.

When the detector detects the completion of the punching operation, the moving device moves the punching unit to the punch slide home position.

摘要： A sheet processing apparatus, such as a finisher, to be used in an image forming device, has a sheet conveying device for allowing conveyance and temporary stopping conveyance to place the sheet in a waiting state, a sheet-conveying-condition detector for detecting a conveying condition for each sheet, a first mode of conveying a sheet by driving the sheet conveying device without placing the sheet conveying device in a waiting state, a second mode of conveyance which places the sheet conveying device in the waiting state, thereafter releasing the waiting state of the sheet conveying device in accordance with conveyance of a succeeding sheet, and conveying preceding and succeeding sheets in a superposed state, and a third mode of conveyance, placing the sheet conveying device in the waiting state, thereafter releasing the waiting state of the sheet conveying device, and conveying the preceding sheet separately from the succeeding sheet. A controller switches the sheet conveying device to the third mode when the sheet-conveying-condition detector has detected that a sheet having a different condition is included within a plurality of sheets to be discharged from the sheet conveying device in a superposed state in the second mode.

On a platen glass, an original is carried in such a state as its read face is opposite to an upper face of the glass, and an image on the read face of the original is read by a scanner supported at a running read position when the original passes the running read position. Then, through a mirror image process, it is formed on an image formation face (upper face) of a sheet the read image of whcih direction is the same as that of the set original. When the image-formed sheet is discharged externally by the reverse sheet discharge control, the sheet is discharged in such a state as its face is being turned downward.
