    • A method comprising interpenetrating a hollow casing into a relatively loose sand layer saturated with ground water, thereafter raising the casing while tamping crushed stones charged into the casing by a compaction rod disposed within the casing, and driving gravel drain piles while continuously performing the raising of the casing and the tamping of the crushed stones. After the casing has reached the predetermined depth and the charging of crushed stones has been confirmed an, amplitude of reaction is detected by a reaction detection device provided on the compaction rod or a load current measuring device of the compaction rod. The reaction value is compared with a set reaction value, and one or more factors (a raising speed of the casing, a period, an amplitude and an extreme end surface-height of the compaction rod for determining a compacting degree of a peripheral ground) are controlled in response to the compared value.

    • A composite member is obtained which includes a thermoplastic resin and a rubber directly and firmly adhering to each other. A composite member is obtained by adhering a molded element of a thermoplastic resin including a homo- or co-polymer of a vinyl cyanide including acrylonitrile, and a rubber molded element constituting a rubber composition containing a vinyl cyanide as a comonomer by means of heating. The resin molded element may be formed from, for example, AS resin, ABS resin or an polymer alloy containing ABS resin. The rubber molded element may be composed of a vulcanizable rubber composition containing NBR or another rubber. Both the molded elements can adhere to each other by contacting the resin molded element with the rubber molded element closely and heating at least either the resin molded element or the rubber molded element by means of melting, vulcanization or the like.

    • A cassette (110), to be loaded with a photo film strip, has a photo film passageway (119) through which a leader (123) of the photo film strip (23, 111) is drawn out of a cassette shell. On a spool (112) is retained a trailer (124) of the photo film strip. A loader apparatus has a light-tight dark compartment (147). A rotary barrel (163) is rotatable, and partially fitted in an opening formed in a downstream wall of the dark compartment. Two cassette holders (164, 165) are disposed on the barrel and in respective positions opposite about a rotational axis (163a) of the barrel, and hold the cassette removably. The barrel is rotated to move the cassette holders into and out of the dark compartment. The cassette is supplied to one of the cassette holders located outside the dark compartment. The trailer of the photo film strip is passed into the photo film passageway in the cassette in one of the cassette holders located inside the dark compartment. The trailer is retained on the spool as passed into the photo film passageway. The spool of the cassette is rotated in the dark compartment after retaining the trailer, for winding the photo film strip on the spool, to include the photo film strip into the cassette.

    • A cassette for containing photographic film has a spool which is provided with retaining claws for retaining a trailer of the photographic film. A cassette port communicates the spool chamber to the outside. To load the photographic film into a cassette, a loading apparatus picks up the trailer with an inserter jig. The inserter jig is passed through the passage port, and is brought to the spool so as to insert the trailer into the cassette shell. The trailer is retained on the spool with the retaining claws. The inserter jig is then drawn out of the cassette shell. Then the spool is rotated in order to wind the photographic film around the spool, fully into the cassette shell. To remove exposed photographic film from such a cassette, the photographic film is drawn and unwound. A separator jig, as passed through the passage port, is brought to the spool. The trailer is released from retention on the retaining claws by use of the separator jig. Then the photographic film is drawn out so as to separate the trailer from the spool.

    • A ribbon adhering apparatus for a photographic film cassette has a turntable, which has holders fixed circumferentially at a regular pitch. Slidable supporters are mounted on the turntable in correspondence to the respective holders, at positions inward therefrom. Initially in rotation of the turntable, a cassette half of a film cassette is set on an empty holder. Ribbon web is lapped on to support surfaces of supporters arranged adjacently. The web is cut between the supporters to separate ribbons. Sucked and held on the supporter, the ribbon is then heated to activate hot-melt adhesive agent. By advancing the supporter to a holder corresponding thereto, the ribbon is pressed against the cassette half via the adhesive agent. The supporter then stops holding the ribbon. After cooling the adhesive agent, the supporter is withdrawn from the holder, from which the cassette half is removed.
