    • A rope terminal assembly of a hoisting apparatus includes a first compression member having a first contact face and a second compression member having a second contact face. The compression members are placed such that their contact faces face each other and delimit between them a gap. A belt-shaped rope having a thermoplastic polymer coating forming the outer surface of the rope is placed in the gap, the contact faces of the compression members compressing against opposite wide sides of the belt-shaped rope. One or both of the compression members includes on the contact face thereof, and/or in proximity of the contact face thereof, one or more indentations, each indentation forming a cavity in the compression member which is in open connection with the gap and arranged to be empty when the thermoplastic polymer coating of the rope compressed by the contact face is solid, and to receive via said open connection thermoplastic polymer coating of the rope flowing from the gap pushed by the compression when the thermoplastic polymer coating melts. An elevator is provided with the rope terminal assembly.

    • A rope terminal arrangement of an elevator includes a belt-shaped hoisting rope, and a gripping device arranged to grip a rope section of the belt-shaped rope via first and second gripping face facing each other and set against opposing first and second side of the rope section placed in a gap between them, the gripping device including a wedge frame delimiting a wedge-shaped space wherein said rope section is placed; and a first gripping member in the wedge shaped space, the first gripping member having said first gripping face set against the first side of said rope section, said first gripping face being provided with an uneven surface pattern for facilitating grip between said first gripping face and said first side of the rope section; and a first wedge member wedged in the wedge shaped space between the wedge frame and the first gripping member such that it wedges the first gripping member to press with said first gripping face against the first side of the rope section. An elevator includes said rope terminal arrangement.

    • A rope lifting tool for belt-shaped ropes comprises a first guide for guiding the rope lifting tool along a first guide rail; a second guide for guiding the rope lifting tool along a second guide rail; an upright plate, and an inclined plate at an acute angle relative to the upright plate. The upright plate and the inclined plate have a wedge shaped space between them. A plurality of wedge members are placed adjacent each other inside the wedge-shaped space. A rope gap for receiving an end of a belt-shaped rope is formed between each wedge member and the upright plate, which rope gap is narrowable by wedging of the wedge member in the wedge shaped space. A rope lifting arrangement includes the rope lifting tool.

    • A rope clamp for clamping one or more ropes includes a first clamping member having a first clamping face for being set against one or more ropes to be clamped and a second clamping member having a second clamping face for being set against one or more ropes to be clamped. The clamping faces defining a gap (between them) for receiving one or more ropes. The clamping members are relatively movable towards each other such that the gap is narrowed. The first clamping member and/or the second clamping member includes a metallic face part forming the clamping face of the clamping member, a metallic body part on the back side of the face part, and an elastic intermediate part made of elastic material between the body part and the face part for elastically transmitting force between the body part and the face part.
