    • In a device for guiding and braking a yarn, a yarn brake comprises braking elements that are pressed flexibly against each other and act on the yarn in a pinch zone. The yarn brake is arranged in the yarn running path between a yarn feeder and a yarn receiver. A pneumatic threader also is provided which includes at least one air and yarn guide element that is disposed in the yarn brake and surrounds the pinch zone without contact. The air and yarn guide element comprising a receiving end, a delivery end and a guide channel provided therebetween, which is open towards the braking elements and from which the yarn is introduced into the pinch zone. The yarn is conveyed into the guide channel by means of an air flow past the pinch zone to the yarn receiver and is introduced into the pinch zone under the action of a produced drawing force.

    • A yarn storage and feed device for textile machines, in particular for the weft yarn of a multicolor weaving machine, comprising an arrangement for limiting the length of the yarn which is unwound in sections having a predetermined length. The arrangement includes a cylindrical storage member for a yarn supply which consists of windings and from which the yarn can be unwound via one end of the cylinder. At least one stopping element is arranged at an axial distance from the last yarn winding of the yarn supply and is adapted to be moved from a passive position, in which the yarn unwound in a circulating movement passes the stopping element, to a stopping position, in which the yarn under take-off tension is stopped at the stopping element during a period of rest until the next movement of the stopping element to the passive position takes place. Depending on the yarn quality, the axial distance between the last winding (11') of the yarn supply (5) and the stopping element (13) is adapted to be adjusted to a maximum value (A.sub.max) on the basis of which an axial migrating movement of the yarn (F) will be prevented in at least the last winding (11') and in the yarn section (12) between the last winding of the yarn supply and the stopping element (13) during the period of rest.

    • A yarn feeder includes a storage drum, and an unwinding brake which has a storage drum counter-braking surface continuous in the peripheral direction and coaxial to the axis of the storage drum. The unwinding brake further has a braking component supported on the counter-braking surface axially counter to the direction of yarn unwinding so as to produce spring action and having a coaxial braking surface also continuous in the peripheral direction. The yarn feeder also has a mounting for the braking component, and a pneumatic brake opening device which has a pressure chamber with a pneumatically loadable, axially movable boundary wall. The boundary wall is connected to the braking component so as to transmit movement at least in the direction of movement thereof counter to the action of the spring. When the boundary wall is pressurised by excess pressure or a vacuum, the braking component can be moved axially into a threading position in which the braking surface is lifted from the counter-braking surface.

    • In a sensing and analyzing system for a yarn feeder with yarn storing unit, one or more sensor elements which may be coupled to one or more circuits are used for evaluating or sensing sensor information. At least one sensor element is placed in the unit, from a yarn detection standpoint, in an uncritical relationship to the unit's yarn transporting surface and a yarn turn travelling forward on this. The transmitting members are designed to relay information from each sensor element in the unit in unprocessed or processed form to receiving members located outside the unit. Energy emitting members within the unit ensure energy supply to the sensor elements and the circuits belong thereto. When using optical emitting elements, these are included in an arrangement which supplements or alternatively substantially reduces the influence of vibrations in the unit on the sensing or analyzing result.
