    • A transflective LCD device. The device includes a first color filter on a first substrate, and a reflective electrode on the first color filter. The reflective electrode has an opaque portion and a transparent portion. A second color filter is formed on an inner side of a second substrate opposite the first substrate. A common electrode is on the second color filter, and a liquid crystal layer is between the first and the second substrates. Another transflective LCD device is provided, including a first color filter on a first substrate, a reflective layer on part of the first color filter, a second color filter on the reflective layer and the first color filter, a transparent electrode on the second color filter, and a common electrode on an inner side of a second substrate opposite the first substrate.

    • A method of forming a transflective liquid crystal display device with a wide-viewing angle. An insulating layer having an uneven surface is formed on a first substrate. An opening is formed in the insulating layer. A conformal reflective electrode is formed on a sidewall and a bottom of the opening and partial insulating layer. The reflective electrode has an opaque portion and a transparent portion, and the transparent portion is located in the opening. At least one symmetric protruding element is formed on the insulating layer around the reflective electrode. A first alignment film is formed on the reflective electrode and the symmetric protruding element. A common electrode and a second alignment film are sequentially formed on an inner surface of a second substrate. Negative type liquid crystal molecules added with chiral agent fill in a space between the first and second substrates to form a liquid crystal layer.

The reflective liquid crystal display apparatus includes a substrate having a first region and a second region; a reflective layer disposed on the substrate in the first region; a photo spacer disposed on the substrate in the second region; a conductive layer disposed on the photoresist spacer; a liquid crystal layer interposed among the reflective layer, the photoresist spacer, and the conductive layer; a color filter layer disposed on the conductive layer; a compensation layer disposed on the color filter layer; and a polarization plate disposed on the compensation layer.
