The method includes: obtaining, according to image block information and a splitting manner of an image block, a parameter of a transform block corresponding to the image block; and obtaining a transform block size according to the parameter of the transform block and the splitting manner of the image block. In the embodiments of the present invention, during determination of a transform block size, the transform block size is obtained according to a splitting manner of an image block and a parameter of a transform block corresponding to the image block. Therefore, a transform block matching the splitting manner of the image block can be used, improving image compression efficiency.

The decoding method may include decoding a video bitstream to obtain a single sample flag bit corresponding to a current image block in a current depth map, performing detection on a first adjacent prediction sampling point and a second adjacent prediction sampling point of the current image block in the current depth map if the single sample flag bit obtained by decoding indicates that a decoding mode corresponding to the current image block is a single depth intra-frame mode (SDM), and constructing a sample candidate set according to results of the detection on the first adjacent prediction sampling point and the second adjacent prediction sampling point, where the sample candidate set includes a first index location and a second index location, decoding the video bitstream to obtain a single sample index flag bit corresponding to the current image block.

The method includes: obtaining a splitting manner of an image block; obtaining splitting direction information according to the splitting manner of the image block and a splitting layer number of a transform block, or obtaining splitting direction information according to the splitting manner of the image block and a numerical relationship between a width and a height of a transform block; and obtaining position information of a post-splitting transform block according to the splitting direction information. In embodiments of the present invention, splitting direction information is obtained directly according to a splitting manner of an image block and a layer number, and then, size information of a transform block is coded according to the splitting direction information, thereby effectively reducing complexity of a coding process.
