A single image reader is used in a first embodiment. When reading the image of a first side, the single image reader is stationary at a first position to read the original. When reading the image of a second side, the single image reader is moved to a second position corresponding to the size of the original, and reads the image of the second side while said image reader is stationary at the second position. The image reading apparatus of the second embodiment uses a stationary first reader for reading a first side of an original, and a movable second image reader for reading a second side of an original. The image reading apparatus of the second embodiment changes the position of the image reader in accordance with the size of the original.

摘要： A sheet storing apparatus which is attachable to a copying machine and a method of controlling it, wherein sheets ejected from the copying machine one after another are stacked in order. A detector for detecting the condition of the sheet transportation is installed in a sheet transporting section thereof, and a control section controls the timing of driving a sheet storing section, a sheet transporting section and a sheet aligning section, based on an output of the detector and data on the speed of the sheet transportation in the copying machine. The control section has a timer for determining the timing of driving each section, and the value of the timer is adjusted in accordance with the data on the speed of the sheet transportation.

摘要： A digital copier being provided with a memory function which enables the operator to set a plurality of copying conditions in a single setting operation before copying operations are initiated so that the copying operations are performed in series or in parallel based on the individual copying conditions being set. Even when the copying operations are ongoing, the digital copier also enables the operator to change the setting of the copying conditions such as the number of copies, magnification for copying, and paper size, along with the sorting mode, so that the copying operations are performed based on the changed conditions thereafter. Accordingly, the setting of the copying modes for every copying mode, which has conventionally been required, is not necessary any more. This improves copying efficiency and also realizes flexible operation even when a plurality of copying modes are set, so that the copying function of the digital copier is significantly improved.
