    • A suspension system for a vehicle, including: four displacement force generators each having an electromagnetic motor and configured to generate, based on a motor force generated by the motor, a displacement force forcing sprung and unsprung portions of the vehicle toward or away from each other; and a controller configured to control the displacement force generated by controlling operation of the motor is disclosed. The controller includes a target-value determining portion configured to determine a target value of a displacement-force-relating amount of each of the four displacement force generators, and a target-value reducing portion configured to reduce the target value of the displacement-force-relating amount of a subjected device as one of the four displacement force generators, in accordance with a certain rule. The target-value reducing portion is configured to reduce the target value of the displacement-force-relating amount of each of at least one of non-subjected devices as the other three of the four displacement force generators, in accordance with the certain rule, when reducing the target value of the displacement-force-relating amount of the subjected device in accordance with the certain rule.

    • A suspension system for a vehicle, including: (a) a suspension spring; (b) a hydraulic damper; (c) a displacement force generator disposed in parallel with the suspension spring and the damper; and (d) a controller including a damping-force controlling portion for controlling a damping force of the damper and a displacement-force controlling portion for controlling a displacement force of the displacement force generator.     • To offer a suspension apparatus for a vehicle with high utility, a suspension apparatus having a damping-force generating device which includes a body-side unit attached so as to project upward from a mount portion formed at a part of the vehicle is provided with a projecting-portion-displacement permitting mechanism for permitting a displacement of at least a projecting portion such that an amount of projection of the projecting portion decreases. The projecting-portion-displacement permitting mechanism is configured as follows, for instance. In a structure in which a downward movement of the body-side unit is prohibited by a pin of a solenoid, the solenoid is energized and the pin is withdrawn, thereby releasing the prohibition of the movement of the body-side unit. In consequence, the body side-unit is permitted to move downward. The mechanism increases a distance between an upper end of the damping-force generating device and a hood disposed above the mount portion, so that an impact applied to the hood from above can be effectively mitigated utilizing a space between the upper end of the damping-force generating device and the hood in which the distance therebetween is increased.

    • A tire air-pressure alarming device includes wheel speed sensors for detecting wheel speeds of wheels of a motor vehicle and also includes a microcomputer-base control device and an alarming unit. The control device is programmed to execute function steps of: deriving a decision value based on the wheel speeds detected by the wheel speed sensors; judging the occurrence of air-pressure drop of the tires constituting wheels, based on the decision value; and outputting a command when the occurrence of the air-pressure drop of the tires is judged. The alarming unit is responsive to the command from the control device thereby to raise an alarm indicating the occurrence of the air-pressure drop of the tire. The tires are monitored by the tire air-pressure alarming device, wherein the control device is also programmed to execute a function step of standardizing the speed dependency of a rolling radius of the tires thereby to standardize the performance in judging the air-pressure drop of the tires. Thus, the tire property can be controlled to improve the accuracy in detecting the tire air-pressure drop.
