    • Disclosed herein is an apparatus for measuring adhesive and frictional properties of a polymer hemisphere relative to a contact plate provided in the apparatus. The apparatus comprise a body having a movable table installed to move along an X-axis and Y-axis and a vertical column positioned at a rear side of the movable table, a sample mount provided on the movable table and having a mirror to reflect surface images of a horizontal contact plate, a head assembly located at a front side of the column and having a polymer hemisphere used to press a surface of the contact plate to implement an adhesive force test, a camera device located at a front side of the mirror to capture the surface images of the contact plate during the adhesive force test, and a control device for analyzing various data inputted thereto during the adhesive force test.

    • Provided are a method of compressing and decompressing an image signal and an apparatus using the same that divides image domains based on the contents of image and hierarchically compresses and decompresses the divided image domain by using a bit rate and/or a layer rate that are different from each other. The method includes operations of: classifying a received bit stream into multiple layers; decoding bit streams classified by each layer, and obtaining decompressed image signals of each layer; and composing the decompressed image signals of each layer. Accordingly, it is possible to transmit or store the important image information in an environment where transmission is poor or storage capacity is insufficient.

    • A device and method for discriminating a deflecting disc. A method of discriminating a deflecting disc from a general optical disc includes: sensing a focus error signal generated when an optical pickup is at a specified position over a disc, and checking the focus error signal in a real time mode; measuring amplitudes of the focus error signal a specified number of times after a lapse of a specified amount of time after the pickup arrives at the specified position, specified and calculating an average value of the amplitudes of the focus error signal; and comparing the average value of the amplitudes of the focus error signal with a specified standard value. When the average value of the amplitudes of the focus error signal exceeds the specified standard value, the optical disc is determined to be a deflecting disc, and when the average value of the amplitudes of the focus error signal is less than the specified standard value, the optical disc id determined to be a general optical disc.
