    • A flexible movie theater display is presented. In an exemplary embodiment, the movie display of the invention is in the form of a FLEXED, a flexible emissive display, comprising a flexible substrate, display elements coupled to the flexible substrate, and conductors used to deliver a drive voltage to the display elements. A FLEXED of the invention can be partitioned among conductors to provide a cinema-sized uniformly bright display. A FLEXED of the invention can be mounted on multiple surfaces of a theater to provide a FLEXED Surround experience for the viewer. A FLEXED can be used to display digital recordings, allowing movie studios and distributors to save costs by eschewing film for digital production alternatives. A FLEXED of the invention is an economical lightweight display that is easy to manufacture, distribute and install.

    • Systems and methods are provided for front contacts utilized with electroluminescent displays. The method includes arranging a plurality of electroluminescent elements, where each electroluminescent element includes at least one top electrode, and where the electroluminescent elements are operable to emit electroluminescence from the top electrode, and providing a conductive layer, where the conductive layer is flexible and substantially transparent. The method further includes adhering the conductive layer to a first top electrode of a first electroluminescent element of the plurality of electroluminescent elements and to a second top electrode of a second electroluminescent element of the plurality of electroluminescent elements. The system includes a flexible support structure and a plurality of electroluminescent elements arranged on the flexible support structure, where each electroluminescent element includes at least one top electrode, and where the electroluminescent elements are operable to emit electroluminescence from the top electrode. The system further includes a conductive layer, where the conductive layer is flexible and substantially transparent and where the conductive layer is electrically connected to a first top electrode of a first electroluminescent element of the plurality of electroluminescent elements and a second top electrode of a second electroluminescent element of the plurality of electroluminescent elements.

    • In one embodiment, a hybrid display that may include a first light emitter of a first type and a second light emitter of a second type that define first and second addressable subpixels of a hybrid pixel. The first and second light emitters may be coupled to a support and provided with drive means for emitting light. The hybrid subpixels may be arranged in a variety of formats to provide a desired emission of light from the hybrid pixel. The support may be flexible to provide a flexible hybrid display. A dummy subpixel may be provided for spacing or to allow for transmission of light from another light emitter and light guides may be provided for guiding light to the dummy subpixel.

    • A voltage partitioned display (VPD) is presented that provides a flexible uniformly bright large area display panel that is easily scalable. The VPD of the invention can be variously shaped and, due to its flexibility, can be rolled to facilitate packaging and shipping. The VPD can comprise a single substrate tile or a plurality of substrate tiles and may include display elements of a variety of display technologies such as, but not limited to electroluminescent displays, plasma displays, liquid crystal displays, etc. The substrate tile of the VPD is voltage partitioned into display subportions so that the display elements within each display subportion receive substantially the same scanning voltage, thereby producing a uniformly bright display. Vias can extend from a front substrate surface to a rear substrate surface to provide electrical connectivity between display elements on the front surface and drive circuitry on the rear surface of the substrate.
