摘要： A technique for parsing numbers on a display in a wireless communication device utilizes a data storage area containing data related to the dialing plan for the particular location of the user, such as a country. A parser receives the number and applies the number digit by digit to the data in the dialing plan storage area to determine whether the number corresponds to a known telephone number format for the particular country. If the number corresponds to a known format, one of a predetermined number of parsing formatting characters are applied to the number and the number with formatting characters is shown on a display. The user may edit the formatting characters to customize the format for personal preferences. The number may be provided to the parser by manual entry of digits by the user via a keypad, or may be automatically provided to the parser by user selection of a number in a telephone book storage area, a call history storage area, or the like. The number may also be provided to the wireless communication device from a remote location. Numbers, such as caller ID, callback numbers, and the like may be automatically provided to the parser.

When the wireless mobile device is activated on the network, the message contact list is transmitted to the wireless mobile device. The wireless mobile device is then able to use the message contact list to generate and transmit messages.

摘要： Systems and methods for sending binary messages to a wireless communication device are provided. A mobile handset maintains a database of contacts including an indicator identifying whether a particular contact is capable or incapable of receiving a binary message. When a mobile handset attempts to send a binary message to a recipient, the contact database is consulted to determine if the status of the recipient's capability for receiving and correctly processing the binary message. If the recipient status is capable, the binary message is sent. If the recipient status is incapable, the user is prompted for instructions. A user may elect to send the binary message anyway, send a text only part of the message, or cancel sending the binary message altogether. If the recipient's status is unknown, the mobile handset sends a special message to the recipient that will prompt a response from the recipient if it is capable of processing a binary message. Based on the receipt or lack of receipt of a response, the database is updated accordingly and the mobile handset either sends the binary message or prompts the user for instructions on how to proceed.
