    • A circuit-breaker includes two contacts which are disposed in an interrupting space filled with a dielectric gas under pressure and between which an electric arc strikes during circuit-breaker opening, a thermal blast chamber communicating directly with the interrupting space, and a piston-driven compression chamber communicating with the thermal blast chamber. The piston-driven compression chamber communicates with the interrupting space via a discharge channel that is separate from the thermal blast chamber and that is closed by a discharge valve. The discharge valve is disposed between the thermal blast chamber and the piston-driven compression chamber in a manner such that the discharge valve opens to enable the gas under increased pressure in the piston-driven compression chamber to be discharged towards the interrupting space via the channel when the increase in the pressure of the gases in the thermal blast chamber is larger than the increase in the pressure of the gases in the piston-driven compression chamber.

    • A high-voltage circuit-breaker including a valve for decompressing a thermal blast chamber includes two contacts disposed in a breaking space which is delimited by a blast nozzle and contains a dielectric gas. It further includes a thermal blast chamber which communicates with the breaking space via a throat of the nozzle and with an expansion space via an evacuation passage which can be shut off by a valve. The valve opens when the pressure in the thermal blast chamber is greater than a particular threshold to evacuate the pressurized gas from the chamber. The evacuation passage is formed in the nozzle and defines a circular volume within the thickness of the nozzle, following its general shape, and opening into the expansion space downstream of the breaking space relative to the throat.

    • A medium tension circuit-breaker has a gastight insulating case filled with a gas having good dielectric properties. A semi-moving arcing contact is electrically connected to a first terminal and a moving contact is mechanically connected to a drive mechanism and electrically connected to a second terminal. The semi-moving arcing contact is connected to a piston movable in a blast volume delimited in particular by the inside wall of an insulating cylinder which is inside the case and by a first face of a blast nozzle. The piston receives thrust from a spring in which energy is stored when the circuit-breaker is in the engaged position. The circuit-breaker includes a thermal expansion volume delimited in particular by the inside wall of the cylinder, by a second face of the nozzle, and by a transverse partition through which the moving contact slides. When interrupting high currents, once the piston has completed its stroke in the direction of compression of the blast volume, the piston is prevented from moving back in the opposite direction.
