    • A color photographic negative element which has a transparent base and a blue sensitive silver halide emulsion layer. The foregoing blue sensitive layer meets each of the following spectral sensitivity requirements:S.sub.max (426-444 nm) .gtoreq.65%S.sub.max(400-500 nm)IS.sub.(425-450) .gtoreq.25%(IS.sub.(400-500))in which S.sub.max(426-444 nm) is the maximum sensitivity between 426 to 444 nm, S.sub.max(400-500 nm) is the maximum sensitivity between 400-500 nm, IS.sub.(425-450) is the integrated spectral sensitivity of the blue sensitive layer from 425 to 450 nm, and IS.sub.(400-500) is the integrated spectral sensitivity of the blue sensitive layer in the region 400-500 nm. A method for printing a negative obtained from exposing and processing an element of the foregoing type, on automatic printers which automatically compensate for color bias, is also provided.

    • A color photographic element has a blue sensitive tabular grain silver halide emulsion layer the halide content of which is less than 80% chloride and which has a tabularity of at least 8.     • A method for enhancing the hue and lightness characteristics of a digital color image, the digital color image having pixel values from which digital luminance and color difference values can be deduced, includes the steps of: deducing digital luminance and digital color difference values for pixels of the digital color image; using the pixels of the digital color image to calculate an image dependent transform; using the image dependent transform to modify the digital luminance values for pixels of the digital color image to form modified luminance values; calculating a color transform that modifies the original digital color difference values in a manner that consistently and smoothly moves the values toward or away from predetermined digital color difference values; and using the color transform to modify the original color difference values for pixels of the digital color image to produce modified color difference values.

    • A method is disclosed for electronically processing an image scanned from a scene exposed onto a color negative photographic element. The element is especially capable of producing images that, when scanned, converted to electronic form, corrected and then converted to a viewable form, exhibit excellent color, reduced granularity and improved sharpness. The photographic elements contain blue, green and red recording layer units capable of forming spectrally differentiated dye images. The layer units are substantially free of colored masking coupler, and each exhibit a dye image gamma of less than 1.5. The element exhibits an exposure latitude of at least 2.7 log E. The gamma ratios of the blue, green and red recording layer units are between 0.80 and 1.2. A method for producing a viewable image is additionally disclosed.
