    • An electrical plug connector (2) for mating With a receptacle connector (4) mounted to float in a back panel (P2) of a drawer containing a power supply distribution module, comprises polarizing alignment members (68,78) arranged on opposite sides of a forward plug part (42) the connector (2). The polarizing alignment members (68,78) are offset from each other longitudinally of the plug part (42) and unsymmetrically with the longitudinal center of the plug part (42). The receptacle connector (4) has a hood (106) formed with opposite alignment member receiving arcs (136,138) which are offset unsymmetrically with respect to the longitudinal center of the hood (106) in such a way as to be capable of receiving the respective polarizing alignment members (68,78) of the plug connector (2). The plug connector (2) can be mounted to further panel (P1) which may be part of a fixed casing, and which has alignment member receiving recesses (95,96) complimentary with the polarizing alignment members (68,78) of the plug connector (2) and with the alignment member receiving arcs (136,138) of the receptacle connector (4). By virtue of its polarizing to the further panel (P1), the plug connector (2) can only be mounted to the casing in its correct orientation for mating with the receptacle connector (4).

In the assembled connector 10 the opposed first and second contact arm arrays 90,96 define first and second blade receiving receptacles 82,86. Upon mating the connector 10 with blade-shaped members 120,130, a plurality of discrete current paths are established between the corresponding first and second sides 122,132;126,136 of the blade-shaped members 120,130 respectively.

    • An electrical terminal for making connection to a ring tongue comprises two metal plates each having a central aperture and a semicircular shaft segment having a portion outstanding from the plate and a portion forming part of the periphery of the aperture. The shaft segment of one plate is force fitted into the aperture of the other plate, with the ring tongue surrounding the two shaft segments, so that the two shaft segments cooperate to provide a hollow shaft, contact springs on plates cooperating to provide a receptacle for a bus bar. The outer faces of the shaft segments and the walls of the apertures are complimentarily tapered to enable the force fit. In use, a fastener is passed through the hollow shaft to secure the terminal to a guide fork, the assembly so formed being mounted on a slideway secured to a rack mounted electrical module to be connected to the bus bar.

    • A molded latching device is disclosed which, along with a similar latching device, is intended for assembly to a rearward corner of a connector housing thereby to provide latching means on the housing for latching the housing to an opening in a panel. The latching device comprises an L-shaped member having first and second arms. The arms have first and second internal surfaces which define a pocket dimensioned to receive a rearward corner of the connector housing. Attaching means are provided on the first arm for attaching the latching device to the housing and a flexible latch arm extends parallel to the second arm for engagement with the surface of the panel. The second arm has bearing surfaces at its free end for engagement with surface portions of the panel.

    • Multi-contact electric connector assembly comprises a connector plug and a connector receptacle. The connector receptacle has a hood extending forwardly from its mating face which surrounds the plug when the parts are mated. A latching means is provided on the receptacle in the form of flexible latch arms extending from the housing of the receptacle and projecting through an opening in the hood adjacent to the housing. The latch arms have a shoulder which engages complementary shoulders adjacent to the mating face of the connector plug. The plug is also provided with camming ramps adjacent to its mating face which cooperate with the latch arm on a terminal pin header when the connector plug is mated with the pin header. The camming ramps deflect the latch arm of the pin header away from the shoulders of the plug when the plug is mated with and disengaged from the pin header.
