摘要： A rotary combustion engine designed for operation as a stratified charge engine in which the fuel-air mixture supplied to the engine working chambers during their intake phase is very lean. Additional fuel is injected into the working chambers after there has been substantial compression of the initial lean mixture, the additional fuel being ignited as it is injected into the engine working chambers and the resulting combustion of this additional fuel is effective to ignite said lean combustion mixture.

摘要： A compound rotary engine having a power unit comprising a twolobed epitrochoidal housing with a three-apexed rotor therein, a compressor unit comprising a one-lobed epitrochoidal housing having a two-apexed rotor therein and feeding compressed gas to the power unit for further compression, and an expansion unit comprising a one-lobed epitrochoidal housing having a two-apexed rotor therein and receiving the partially expanded exhaust from the power unit for further expansion. The three units may be mounted on a common shaft, or may be on separate parallel shafts which are interconnected and turning at the same speed. The system may be operated either as a diesel system with a high over-all volume ratio and compression ignition, or at a lower compression ratio as a four-cycle with external ignition and either fuel injection or carburetor.
