摘要： A cartridge for a strip of flexible material, preferably film, adapted for use with a projector having automatic feed-out means, basically comprising a reel receptacle and a cover. The receptacle has a substantially planar back portion. The cover fits over the receptacle to substantially enclose a reel, and has a substantially planar front portion. A feed-out aperture is provided in the cartridge to permit the entry of feed-out means into the cartridge and the egress of flexible strip material out of the cartridge. An arcuate guide extends within the cartridge from one end of the feed-out aperture annularly within the reel receptacle to the opposite end of the feed-out aperture and is positioned to penetrate the space between the flanges of the reel. Locking tabs and apertures are provided to interlock several cartridges together in a stacked relationship and for attaching the cartridge to the projector. Additional mounting and positioning elements are also provided.

The receptacle has a flat back portion and a circular reel spacer ridge on the back portion. An arcuate guide member is spaced from the back portion and positioned to penetrate the space between the flanges of a reel in the receptacle along an upper portion of the reel. The cover fits over the receptacle to substantially enclose a reel, and has an internal reel spacer ridge and a central, internal reel-bearing projection located to penetrate the central opening in the hub of a reel positioned in the receptacle. The receptacle and cover are constructed and arranged to form a threading aperture on the bottom end of the assembled cartridge to permit a strip of flexible material to be drawn from the reel out of the cartridge. The invention also provides a method and means for estimating the number of feet of film on a reel. In carrying out the method, a beam of light is projected between the flanges of the reel in a manner so that the beam is at least partially masked by the film on the reel. The light beam is collected as a collection surface, and the amount of film on the reel is estimated by reading a scale on the collection surface.

摘要： A power transmission mechanism having a reciprocating drive means for imparting rotation to a reversibly rotatable body is improved by having an output drive member connected to the rotatable body and resilient means connecting the rotatable body and the output drive member for transmitting the rotational motion of the rotatable body to the output drive member. The resilient means is deflectable so that it can deflect from its normal position to store a portion of the rotational energy while transmitting the remainder of the rotational energy in the form of rotational movement to the output drive member while the reversibly rotatable body is rotating. The resilient means then reverts to its normal position to release the stored energy and continue moving the output drive member after the reversibly rotatable body is stopped.

摘要： The disclosed tape recorder has a program mechanism for automatic preselection of the tape play cycle to provide forward, forward-reverse and continuous playing of the tape between the storage reels. A primary control slide is shifted to either side of a neutral position by drive means that is powered from a unidirectional motor. Drive members at opposite ends of a center pivoted, rotatable rocker arm are alternatively pivoted upwardly into a plane of engagement with the control slide according to a desired direction of movement of the slide. A manually operable selector knob is rotated in opposite directions from a center position to initiate tape transport in the selected direction after which it is promptly restored to its center position by control mechanism of the recorder. Mere depression of the selector knob places the recorder in a neutral or quiescent condition regardless of the programmed operating mode.
