摘要： A fuel preconditioning system for use with a pulse detonation combustor (PDC) makes use of a heat source to pyrolyze fuel prior to injecting it into the PDC for detonation. The fuel is decomposed into a more detonable form by pyrolysis in a conditioner that applies heat to the fuel in the absence of oxidizer. The heat may be provided by a hot section of the engine, including the walls of the PDC itself. The conditioned fuel is fed to the PDC and detonated.

The turbine is positioned downstream from and in flow communication with the pulse detonation combustor. A power plant includes at least one fuel preconditioner and a number of power systems. Each power system includes a pulse detonation combustor and a turbine positioned downstream from and in flow communication with the pulse detonation combustor.

摘要： A two-stage pulse detonation system includes a pre-combustor and a geometric resonator connected via a converging-diverging nozzle to the pre-combustor to create a high temperature and high pressure conditions in the resonator in order to create optimal conditions for detonation initiation. A mixture of a fuel and a gas is burned in the pre-combustor and is passed through the nozzle into the geometric resonator, where the burned mixture is detonated. The detonation propagates through the resonator exit nozzle thus generating thrust.

A work-load engine is employed to generate, based on the specifications, a work order that includes a dataflow for selecting appropriate stations on a manufacturing floor to participate in a manufacturing process, and a workflow for instructing each of the appropriate stations to perform a sequence of operations, within the manufacturing process, that result in fabricating individual components of the article of footwear according to the order.

Initially, the method involves providing a plurality of pre-formed phylon biscuits. Typically, the plurality of biscuits includes at least a first biscuit that has a first density and a second biscuit that has a second density. The method may further include the steps of arranging the biscuits into a receiving area of the heat press, and integrating the plurality of biscuits to form the midsole by activating the heat press. Integrating the biscuits includes raising the biscuits above a threshold temperature, and causing the biscuits to expand such that each of the plurality of biscuits couples with another of the biscuits to form a midsole with two or more degrees of firmness located at distributed regions thereon.

摘要： A pulse detonation combustor is provided with a fuel-air mixer located upstream from a detonation chamber. A fuel-air mixture exits the fuel-air mixer and enters the detonation chamber, where it is ignited by an ignition source. The flow from the fuel-air mixer passes over the surface of a center body, which extends downstream from the fuel-air mixer. The surface of the center body contains at least one turbulence generator, which imparts additional turbulence in the fuel-air mixture passing through the chamber. The turbulence generator aids in the mixing of the fuel and air of the fuel-air mixture to enhance the deflagration to detonation transition within the pulse detonation combustor.
