摘要： An operational status display for a nerve stimulator is located remote from the nerve stimulator. In one embodiment the display comprises a stand-alone discrete component that can be placed as desired by the nerve stimulator needle. In another embodiment, the display comprises an integral part of the nerve stimulator needle. The display can be alphanumeric or can comprise one or more discrete signal lights or other visual indicia. Color can be used to provide information regarding levels (intensity) of current, or the energy being provided to the needle and/or being delivered to the patient. In some embodiments these displays also provide information regarding the presence or absence of current and/or the polarity of the electricity then being provided to the nerve stimulator needle.

摘要： An objective and reproducible system for, and method of, monitoring and/or controlling the pressure during nerve blockage injection, especially by less experienced personnel, is provided in order to decrease the possibility of intraneuronal injection. More specifically, the present invention employs a pressure sensing and/or limiting device located between an injection device (typically a syringe) and a nerve block needle whereby injection pressure during a nerve block injection can be easily and objectively monitored, thereby allowing the operator to monitor the injection pressure and/or injection speed during a nerve blockage injection procedure and to take appropriate corrective actions if abnormal pressure conditions are observed.

摘要： The present invention is directed to an apparatus for locating and anesthetizing peripheral nerves. The apparatus of the present invention enables an operator to independently complete a nerve blockade procedure, without the need for an assistant. The apparatus includes a generator which provides an electrical stimulus within a selected range. Adjustable control knobs located on the generator enable an operator to designate the selected amperage range. The apparatus is adapted for accepting a syringe for storing and administering anesthesia, and a tube for carrying the anesthesia from the syringe to a disposable anesthesia needle. An electronic cable connects the needle to the generator for delivering the electrical stimulus to the needle. The apparatus includes a remotely located foot pedal connected to the generator by a coupling cable, which enables the operator to control and modify the magnitude of the electrical stimulus. The addition of the pedal leaves the operator's hands free for unassisted nerve blockade procedure under sterile conditions. The present invention also discloses a method for operating the apparatus.
