    • To provide an electric discharge device capable of performing an optimum process that achieves a high-quality process in a satisfactory quality of processing precision and the like. In an electric discharge device that processes a workpiece by electric discharge, a reserve electric-discharge pulse is applied by alternately switching between a positive polarity and a reverse polarity, and a current waveform shape of a main electric-discharge pulse is differentiated corresponding to a polarity of a reserve electric-discharge pulse, to a main electric-discharge pulse to be applied after detecting electric discharge following the reserve electric-discharge pulse. With this arrangement, a processing current shape can be optimized corresponding to an electric discharge characteristic, and thus a high-precision process can be performed.

    • A high-frequency power source device includes switching element groups having a configuration in which a plurality of switching elements turned on/off cyclically are connected in parallel. One parallel connection terminal of the switching element group is connected to a positive electrode terminal of a DC power source, and one parallel connection terminal of the switching element group is connected to a negative electrode terminal of the DC power source. Respective other parallel connection terminals of the switching element groups are connected via a reactor. A pulse voltage that appears at opposite ends of the reactor due to a cyclic on/off operation of the switching element groups is applied to a load through a coaxial cable and a matching circuit.

    • A wire discharge machine includes a wire electrode arranged with a gap from a workpiece, and a constant-voltage power supply that applies a high-frequency voltage between the workpiece and the wire electrode, and generates discharge between the workpiece and the wire electrode by applying the high-frequency voltage to machine the workpiece. The wire discharge machine further includes a current measurement unit that measures a current value of a current flowing from the constant-voltage power supply, a determination unit that determines a state between electrodes, which is a state between the workpiece and the wire electrode, based on a combination of a result of a threshold determination of the measured current value and a result of a threshold determination of a change value in the current value, and a control unit that controls a gap between the workpiece and the wire electrode based on the determined state between electrodes.
