    • An imaging forming apparatus includes a platen on which an original is put, and a platen cover mounted to be opened or closed with respect to the platen. A plurality of reflection type photosensors are embedded in the platen cover at predetermined positions. First, a sensor circuit including photosensors is set in a first mode. When an original is put on the platen and the platen cover is closed, photosensors detect the reflection light from the original such that the CPU can determine a size of the original based upon sensor inputs from the sensor circuit. Thereafter, in order to detect opening or closing of the platen cover, the sensor circuit is set in a second mode. In the second mode, total sensitivity of a photosensor for detecting a minimum size of the original is heightened, and light emitting diodes of all photosensors are inhibited from being driven such that the photosensors can respond to only external light. In the second mode, when the platen cover is closed, since the external light that enters the photosensors becomes approximately zero, no detection signal is outputted from even the photosensor having higher total sensitivity, and therefore, it is possible to detect that the platen cover is closed.

    • An image forming apparatus includes an intermediate tray wherein a copied paper on which an image has been formed is stored. In the case of a double-face copy, the copied paper is stored in the intermediate tray in a manner that a surface on which an image has been formed is faced upward and, in the case of a multi-copy, the copied paper is stored in the intermediate tray in a manner that a surface on which an image has been formed is faced downward. The intermediate tray has two movable guide members which sandwiches the copied paper stored in the intermediate tray in a width direction thereof. The movable guide members are moved so as to go and come back once at every timing when a sheet of copied paper is stored in the intermediate tray, whereby both side ends of the copied paper are pushed by the movable guide members to be aligned. The movable guide members are returned to respective home positions at every timing when ten copied papers are stored in the intermediate tray, whereby an accumulative error of the movement of the movable guide members can be corrected. In addition, a center position between the two movable guide members can be electrically corrected by moving respective reference positions of the movable guide members in the same direction at the same amount.

    • A data transmitting apparatus includes a sensor. When an alarm is generated from the sensor, a post-alarm recording is started, and a plurality of still image files are written to an alarm storage area of an SDRAM by a memory control circuit. The still image files within the alarm storage area are transmitted to an image accumulating server through an NIC during a period from occurrence of the alarm to becoming full of the alarm storage area. Furthermore, still image files created in a normal recording after the post-alarm recording are intermittently transmitted to the image accumulating server at an arbitrary file transmission cycle. The still image files which have not been transmitted yet out of the still image files in the alarm storage area are transmitted to the image accumulating server at intervals of the file transmission operations in the normal recording mode.
