    • A communication device includes: a reception unit that receives a signal transmitted from another communication device via a transmission path; a transmission unit that transmits a signal to the another communication device via the transmission path; an error rate measurement unit that measures an error rate representing a probability of occurrence of errors in a signal received by the reception unit in a case where a bi-directional communication with the another communication device is performed; and a phase adjustment unit that adjusts a phase of a signal transmitted from the transmission unit to the another communication device based on an error rate measured by the error rate measurement unit.

    • The present invention provides a communication system including: a transmitter section that transmits a signal having a predetermined waveform; plural receiver sections that receive the signal via signal transmission paths; a physical quantity measuring section that measures a physical quantity of the signal transmission paths, based on the transmission time of the signal from the transmitter section to the receiver section; a correction section that corrects a signal received via the signal transmission paths, and corrects a signal transmitted from the transmitter section and outputs the signal to the signal transmission path; and a setting section that sets, in the correction section, a correction amount in accordance with the physical quantity for correcting a signal received via the signal transmission path, and/or a correction amount in accordance with the physical quantity for correcting a signal transmitted from the transmitter section and outputting to the signal transmission path.

    • A data input system including electronic paper and a stylus writing device is disclosed. The electronic paper includes a transparent display substrate on which a number of optically readable code patterns have been formed, the optically readable code patterns representing positional information on a display surface, a rear surface substrate opposing the display substrate, and coloring particles that are enclosed between the display substrate and the rear surface substrate and that are movable by applying an electric or a magnetic field. The electronic paper displays an image due to motion of the particle. The stylus writing device includes a writing head provided at the end of the stylus for writing the image by applying an electric or a magnetic field to the electronic paper by contact and includes an optical reading device for optically reading the code patterns formed on the display surface where the end of the stylus contacts.

    • An utterance state detection apparatus includes a transmission device carried by a user and one or more reception devices. The transmission device includes an identification-information storage unit, a speech detector and a transmission unit. The identification-information storage unit stores identification information of at least one of the transmission device and the user. The speech detector detects speech. The transmission unit transmits transmission information including information of the detected speech and the identification information. The reception devices are installed in regions. Each reception device includes an utterance-state detector. If at least one of the reception devices receives the transmission information, the utterance-state detector of the at least one of the reception devices detects an utterance state of the user based on the identification information and the information of the detected speech, which are included in the transmission information received by the at least one of the reception devices.
