    • A pneumatic tire for a vehicular tire and wheel assembly that includes a rigid wheel rim, which is provided with essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges, rim seating surfaces disposed on the radially inner side of the rim ring and inclined in the transverse direction, and a recessed mounting bed for each tire bead, and that also includes a pneumatic tire of elastomeric material, with bead seating surfaces of the tire beads being disposed adjacent to the rim flanges on the rim seating surfaces, and with the carcass of the tire being anchored in the beads by being looped about pressure-resistant bead cores. In order despite manufacturing-related tolerance differences of the rims and tires to obtain an improved bead seating, each bead is provided with recesses disposed therein in such a way that when the tire is mounted on the rim and inflated to the operating pressure, a base portion of the bead that rests against the rim seating surface exerts thereon a compression pressure in the range of from 8 to 56%.

    • A vehicle wheel on which can be mounted a pneumatic tire which essentially includes rubber or rubber-like synthetic material, and has a carcass with load-carrying cords which are anchored in the bead regions of the tire via inextensible core rings. The wheel has a rigid rim with laterally outwardly disposed rim flanges; disposed axially inwardly of these rim flanges on the radially outer side of the rim are seating surfaces for the tire. To minimize disrupting effects on the tire tread, while at the same time improving the emergency operating conditions, a support member is disposed axially inwardly of the seating surfaces on the rim. This support member has a diameter which is greater than the diameter formed by the rim flanges. In the region of a given rim flange, the tire wall extends laterally outwardly from a given core ring in a substantially flat manner, and in particular in an angular range of from 0.degree. to 20.degree. relative to the axis of rotation of the tire. The carcass neutral line passes through the same region of a given rim flange in such a way as to avoid a turning point. The core rings are eccentrically disposed in their head regions in such a way that when the tire is mounted, the inner diameter of the tire in these bead regions is less than it is during mounting of the tire.

    • A method and apparatus for vulcanizing pneumatic vehicle tires where the tire beads, in the mounted state, are disposed on the radially inner periphery of a rim next to the essentially radially inwardly extending rim flanges. In order to obtain tires having a long service life and tire beads with a good sealing quality, it is proposed that the tire be vulcanized in essentially the proper contour for operation. Two, respectively radially segmented, bead-forming rings that have a variable diameter and can be displaced axially are provided. For the purpose of vulcanizing the sealing surfaces disposed in the interior of the tire so that these surfaces will rest on the rim in an airtight manner, the bead-forming rings are introduced, in a radially retracted state, into the interior of the tire blank, whereby at least one of the tire beads is ovally deformed. The segments of the molding rings are subsequenty extended to an annular radial diameter whereby the molding surface portions of the molding rings can be moved axially outwardly over the tire beads without deforming the latter. The molding rings are then moved axially outwardly over the tire beads and then retracted to their smallest diameter, and are locked into position, whereupon the tire blank is vulcanized in a mold.
