    • A light source device is provided. The light source device has: a discharge lamp that emits light by discharge in an interelectrode space between a first electrode and a second electrode; a main mirror arranged at the first electrode side that reflects light flux generated by the discharge in the interelectrode space so as to emit the light flux to an area to be illuminated; a sub-mirror arranged at the second electrode side facing opposite the main mirror that reflects the light flux from the interelectrode space toward the interelectrode space; and a driver that supplies alternating current to the first and the second electrodes, and changes duty ratio of the alternating current supplied to the first and the second electrodes in accordance with a predetermined pattern. In the light source device, maximum value of time ratio of a first anode period in which the first electrode works as anode to one cycle of the alternating current is larger than maximum value of time ratio of a second anode period in which the second electrode works as anode to the one cycle of the alternating current.

    • A light source device includes: a light emitting tube having a light emitting portion that generates light by an electric discharge between a pair of electrodes and first and second sealed portions provided on either side of the light emitting portion; a main reflecting mirror provided along the first sealed portion of the light emitting tube and having a main reflecting portion that reflects light radiated from the light emitting tube so as to converge at a predetermined position; and a sub-reflecting mirror provided along the second sealed portion of the light emitting tube and having a sub-reflecting portion and a base portion, the sub-reflecting portion sending light radiated from the light emitting tube toward a side opposite to the main reflecting mirror back to the light emitting portion of the light emitting tube, and the base portion being provided at a side of the second sealed portion of the sub-reflecting portion and formed in a stepped manner with respect to the sub-reflecting portion.

    • A discharge-lamp lighting apparatus includes a control circuit that determines electric power supplied to a high-pressure discharge lamp after the high-pressure discharge lamp is started by an igniter. The electric power is determined in accordance with a voltage corresponding to a lamp voltage detected by a voltage detection circuit and a drive current detected by a current detection circuit. When the determined electric power is less than predetermined electric power, the control circuit causes a down chopper to control the drive current such that an amount of increase in the electric power per unit time becomes equal to or less than a predetermined value.

    • In a lamp device provided with an arc tube, a principal reflection mirror, and a sub-mirror; a decrease in illumination light, caused by a trigger line disposed to improve the turn-on characteristics of the arc tube, being suppressed. The lamp device include an arc tube having a bulb portion that incorporates electrodes and sealing portions; a principal reflection mirror; a sub-mirror; leads connected to an electrode at an end portion of each of the sealing portions; and a trigger line. The trigger line has a ring-like portion wound around the sealing portion. The trigger line extends from the ring-like portion and has a wiring path that passes a neighborhood of the bulb portion without coming into contact with the bulb portion, further extends along the sealing portion and is connected to the lead. The wiring path is in the same plane that extends through an optical axis.
