    • In a paper web feed unit of a rotary press, a paper web taken out of a paper roll is longitudinally cut into first and second cut paper webs, which are fed out toward the downstream side by a driven roller of a feed-out mechanism, and only the first cut paper web is passed through an angle bar section for transferring the traveling path of the first cut paper web. The paper web feed unit is equipped with a paper web traveling tension controller which comprises a dancer roller mechanism for independently applying a predetermined pushing pressure to each of the first cut paper web passing through the angle bar section and the second cut paper web not passing through the angle bar section, a detector for detecting the positions of dancer rollers moved in a synchronized manner, and a controller for receiving a detection signal output from the detector and for outputting a control signal to a motor for the driven roller in order to control the rotational frequency of the driven roller to thereby maintain each of the dancer rollers at a constant position.

    • The gap adjusting device for nipping rollers is provided with one roller rotatably provided at a prescribed position and the other movable roller. The nipping rollers are adapted so that the other roller is capable of forcing a paper web passing between the two rollers onto the one roller. A nipping-roller gap adjusting device includes a pair of supporting arms, one end of each of the supporting arms being swingably supported and the other end thereof rotatably supporting the other roller. A pressing force imparting device gives to the support arms a force working in such a direction that causes the other roller to approach the one roller and which, at the same time, can adjust the magnitude of the force. A minimum gap setting device can set a minimum gap between the one roller and the other roller. A gap adjusting device adjusts the size of a gap between the one roller and the other roller. A fixed frame member rotatably supports the one roller. The gap adjusting device is mounted on the fixed frame.

    • A printed paper web or any required number of such web in superposition are cut into sections at the folding station of a rotary printing press. Each web section has its midpart subsequently pushed into one of the jaw cavities in a jaw cylinder, therein to be engaged and folded by a fixed and a movable jaw. Both jaws are mounted to separate, independently movable parts of the jaw cylinder, to which is coupled a jaw spacing adjustment mechanism for moving the jaws toward and away from each other in order to vary the spacing therebetween in any operating phase of the movable jaw relative to the fixed jaw. In order to adjust the jaw spacing to the running speed of the press, as well as to the number of webs being processed jointly, a jaw spacing adjustment circuit is provided which puts out a signal indicative of a desired jaw spacing suiting both the press speed and the web thickness, for delivery to a stepper motor driving the jaw spacing adjustment mechanism.
