    • A lighttight box includes a lid movable between a first lighttight position and a second box-opening position. Actuator apparatus includes a lift mechanism, attachable to the lid when the box is in a parked film-delivery position relative to a workstation, movable between a rest position in which the lid is held in its closed position, and an actuated position in which the lid is held in its box-opening position. A motor, coupled to the lift mechanism, serves for driving the lift mechanism between its rest and actuated positions.

    • An intercore for mounting a hollow photographic web roll core and to transmit rotation from an elongated spindle to the core, which spindle has one or more axially extending ramps which slope radially outward in a direction away from a front end. The intercore includes a bore to removably receive the spindle by insertion of the spindle front end first into the bore. At least one slot is present in the intercore, carrying a lug which can move radially within the slot and which is positioned such that insertion of the spindle front end first into the bore causes each lug to ride on a corresponding ramp and be urged radially outward through its carrying slot and into engagement with a hollow core positioned over the intercore. An elongated spindle is provided in another aspect, for insertion into a bore of an intercore which mounts a hollow photographic web roll core for rotation. The spindle has a front end, a rear end adapted to be rotationally driven, and one or more axially extending ramps which slope radially outward in a direction away from the front end. A drive assembly can use the intercore and the spindle together.

    • An elongated intercore for mounting hollow cores of various lengths for rotation. The intercore includes a plurality of stop members spaced along at least part of the length of the intercore, and which are urged resiliently radially outward between retracted and extended positions. As a result, a core can be slid over the stop members while they are in their retracted position and a first end of a core can abut against a forward facing side of any of the stop members when in an extended position, to prevent the first end from rearward movement. In another aspect, an elongated intercore is provided with a plurality of ring guides spaced apart from one another along a forward end of the intercore and each extending about the intercore. This aspect additionally includes a resilient wire ring which can be positioned within any of the ring guides and restrain forward movement of the core.

    • A lighttight box, for automatically delivering a photosensitive sheet of photographic film to an exposure station, and for positively removing the film from the exposure station and returning it to the box. The box includes a lid movable between a closed lighttight position and a fully open position. A clamshell film-carrying mechanism, connected to the lid, is mounted for movement, in a film delivery mode, from a closed position internal to the box when the lid is in its lighttight position, to an open film-delivery position external to the box when the lid is in its fully open position, and, in a film removal mode, from an open position, in which the clamshell mechanism clasps the rear edge of the film, to a closed position, in which the film is positively removed from the station and the film is replaced in the box.

A biasing cam is journaled to the end surface of the drum in the cam indentation, the biasing cam responsive to pressure from the cam follower for biasing the clamp away from the drum surface so as to enable the positioning of an edge of the flexible sheet of material between the clamp and the surface of the drum. Holding structure is provided for selectively holding the cam follower stationary relative to the cam, such that the cam follower can be selectively engaged with the biasing to control the position of the clamp cam.

    • A cassette and method of use, which cassette can receive and rotatably mount a roll of photosensitive medium web. The cassette includes a housing having a first section and a second section with respective, mating margins extending in a transverse direction between opposite ends of the cassette. The second section is movable with respect to the first section between a closed position in which the mating margins abut one another so that the housing is maintained light tight, and an open position in which the margins are spaced apart. The margins can define between them a slit through which the web of photosensitive medium can pass. The cassette further has a lock assembly with at least one lock member movable between a locked position in which it restrains the second section from moving from the closed position, and a released position in which the cassette can be opened. The lock assembly further includes a handle adjacent a first end of the cassette connected to the at least one lock member so that the at least one lock member can be moved between the locked and released positions by manual movement of the handle.
