    • The device comprises an undercarriage extending transversely of the working direction of the device, and supported, at its opposite ends, by respective pairs of worms with the worms of each pair rotating in respective opposite directions. A cantilever bracket is mounted on the forward side of the undercarriage, considered in the working direction. A plurality of conveyor troughs are mounted, for pivoting about a horizontal axis, on the forward edge of the undercarriage, and respective hydraulic actuators are connected between each trough and the cantilever bracket, so that the troughs, which are inclined rearwardly and upwardly, may be adjusted with respect to their angular orientation. Struts extending rearwardly from the undercarriage connect the undercarriage to a third driving unit which may comprise either a pair of oppositely rotating worms having their axes extending in the working direction or two laterally spaced pairs of worms. A respective endless scraper chain extends along each trough, and each trough has a cutting tool at its lower forward end. At the upper rearward end of the conveyor trough the cut material is discharged into transversely extending endless conveyors which convey the material to an upwardly and rearwardly extending inclined endless belt covered by an endless cover belt. The endless conveyor belt delivers the material to an inclined classifying screen above which there is arranged a pressure water supply. The undesired material drops through the screen while the desired material slides over the screen into a hopper leading to an elevator. The several pairs of worms provide essentially a three-point support for the device.

    • A cutting wheel arrangement for a suction dredge includes a cutting wheel assembly provided with a plurality of cutting stirrups. A suction pipe is connected to a suction chamber arranged within the cutting wheel arrangement. The suction chamber has a suction opening in the suction area. The cutting wheel assembly includes two coaxially adjacent cutting wheels which are fixedly connected to each other and have lateral cutting openings. The suction chamber is separated by a center wall into two separate chamber portions. One of the suction chamber portions is located in the region of one cutting wheel and the other suction chamber portion is located in the region of the other cutting wheel. Each suction chamber portion is connected to the suction pipe through an opening which can be closed by means of an adjustable flap member in such a way that either the one or the other suction chamber portion is in communication with the suction pipe. The suction chamber is located predominantly in the lower region of the cutting wheels. The cutting wheel arrangement is operated in such a way that the direction of rotation of the cutting wheels moves the cutting stirrups toward and past the suction opening the region of the suction chamber portions.

    • A process for suctioning solid material from a waterbed and for conveying a resulting solids-water suspension into a hopper is provided. A flow of water is supplied to a towed suction basket. The basket has a suction region connected to a suction tube, at least one pressure nozzle and at least one motive nozzle. The flow of water supplied to the towed suction basket is divided into a motive water flow and a pressure water flow. The pressure water flow is directed through the at least one water pressure nozzle onto the waterbed for dislodging the solid material on the waterbed and creating the solids-water suspension in the suction region of the towed suction basket. The motive water flow is directed through the at least one motive water nozzle through the suction region of the towed suction basket and into the suction tube for accelerating the solids-water suspension into the suction tube.
