    • Methods and systems for configuration data management are disclosed. In one embodiment, a configuration management system may be configured to store a product operational control file for controlling a product based on configuration data. The configuration management system may define a plurality of orderable items and relationships between the orderable items and the configuration data. The configuration management system may receive an order for the product including a configuration requirement. The configuration requirement may include one or more of the orderable items. The configuration management system may then load the product operational control file and the configuration data onto the ordered product according to the defined relationship between the orderable item and the configuration data, and the configuration requirement of the ordered product.

    • A portable pool cleaning system for the remote cleaning of a swimming pool including a housing and a base. A motor is connected to the housing and is attached to a high pressure pump wherein the pump includes both intake and ports. The first tubing is connected to the intake port and the opposite end is inserted into the swimming pool for the transportation of water from the swimming pool to the pump. A second tubing is connected to an output port of the high pressure pump with the opposite end of the second tubing placed into the swimming pool and attached to a self-propelled cleaning device. The self-propelled cleaning device uses a high pressure water stream as a scrubbing function. The motor is connected to a timer which is connected to a power source. The timer initiates the activation and deactivation of the motor and the self-propelled cleaning device. A means for attaching the base and portable pool cleaning system to the periphery of the swimming pool is also included.

    • An apparatus and method for starting a single-phase variable reluctance motor defined by a stator having one or more pairs of projecting poles defining a principal axis and a rotor mounted on a rotatable shaft co-axial with the principal axis of the stator is provided. The apparatus includes a device for preventing the rotor from being halted in a position of zero-developed torque thereby enabling reliable starting of the motor. The device includes a vane defined by a ferromagnetic disk having alternating mark regions and space regions which is mounted to the rotatable shaft and may form part of a rotor position transducer. A permanent magnet is positioned so as to move the vane into a position at which starting torque of the desired direction will be developed when the motor is energized. A further embodiment combines the magnet with a Hall-effect sensor so that, in conjunction with the vane, a rotor position transducer is formed.

    • A visor or cap brim is disclosed that prevents the pressure of the wind from blowing the cap off of the user's head. The visor portion is a generally planar surface that is held out away from the front of the cap portion that sits on the user's head. This creates a single large passage between the visor/bill and the cap and the visor/bill is held at such an angle that it acts a “spoiler” to press the hat down more firmly on the user's head in a high wind while at the same time shading the eyes and forehead from the sun. The visor portion of the cap is removably attached to a semi-rigid headband that encircles the base of the main body of the cap. This attachment is accomplished by a plastic “rivet” type arrangement connected at the terminal ends of a pair of arms attached to the novel visor portion. The visor portion includes a wind or air dam along its upper edge to increase stability and is also slidable up and down the arms.
