    • The object of the present invention is to provide a hydrogen gas sensor that may suffer less influences from the environmental space as well as exercise less influence to the environmental space. The hydrogen gas sensor 10 comprises a first electrode 12 and a second electrode 14 are provided, and an electrolyte 16 disposed between the first electrode 12 and the second electrode 14. The first electrode and the second electrode are made of corresponding different materials in chemical potential for hydrogen gas. That is, the first electrode includes a relatively high chemical potential material, and the second electrode includes a relatively low chemical potential material. The hydrogen gas sensor detects hydrogen gas based on the electromotive force generated between these electrodes and, at least a contacting portion of the electrolyte with the first electrode and a contacting portion of the electrolyte with the second electrode are covered with a hydrogen selective permeable envelope 20.
