    • A method for sewing together covering elements is provided, in which two first threads and a second thread are used in a sewing machine having sewing needle means. In operating the sewing machine, the covering elements are fed at a given feeding pitch, such that the two first threads are entwined about the second thread in each of needle holes formed by the sewing needle means in the covering elements. Those entwined three threads fill and close the needle hole, thereby preventing leakage of a liquid foaming agent at a foaming process for forming a foamed product integral with the covering elements. The sewing needle means may comprise one sewing needle, in which case, both two first threads are used in that one sewing needle, or alternatively may comprises two sewing needles, in which case, the two first sewing threads are respectively used in the two sewing needles.

    • An automatic sewing apparatus which permits sewing together a curved edge of a first blank material and an edge of a second blank material, precisely and automatically. The construction of the sewing apparatus is such that on the table of sewing machine, a lower guide plate for securing the second blank material is movably mounted, and above the lower guide plate, provided is an upper guide plate having a movable guide piece slidable along a guide groove formed in the upper guide plate, the movable guide piece being for securing the first blank material. The lower guide plate is movable along a guide groove formed on the table. The two guide grooves are respectively formed in a shape conforming to a track required for orienting the relevant edge in a direction identical to the sewing path of the sewing machine.

    • An automated sewing device capable of neatly feeding a material(s) of easily contractible property to a sewing machine, without the material(s) being curled. In the automated sewing device, blower tubes are arranged so as to allow air to be blown therefrom to the material(s), thereby applying an appropriate degree of air pressure thereto at desired angles. With such blower tube arrangement, air pressure is effectively used for stretching the material(s) outwardly and neatly so as to prevent the same from curling, and also for automatically feeding the material(s) toward the sewing machine.

    • An automated sewing device for automatically sewing together rectilinear and curved end portions respectively of two base materials. A guide element is provided to separate the two base materials from each other and guide them in a sewing direction, and a guide roller mechanism is provided, which operates to adjustingly bring one guide roller to contact with the base material having the curved end portion and rotate the guide roller to move that base material in a direction orthogonal with the sewing direction, thereby keeping the rectilinear and curved end portions in alignment with each other. Hence, a seam is created along the curved end portion with a constant margin given between the seam and the curved contour of the curved end portion. A pair of guide rollers may be provided to move two curved end portions in a direction orthogonal with the sewing direction for the same alignment purpose.
