    • A truss assembly (10) for supporting lights (30) is described. The assembly includes a truss frame (12) with individual units (16) within which is mounted electric lights. The truss frame has end plates (34) at each end (12B) and rotatable plates (52) mounted onto each end plate by bushings (58) which are fixably mounted within the rotatable plates. Locking assemblies (64) extend through the rotating plates and into indexing holes (50) in the end plates. Support receivers (70) are attached to the rotatable plates and mount on top of support stands (74) in order to keep the truss assembly in an elevated position. In a second embodiment, the truss frames are joined together to form a longer truss assembly. Several truss assemblies are connected together by forked support stands 78 at the corners to create a truss system 80 which encloses an arena 86. The fixed bushings within the rotatable plates enable the truss frame with the electric lights to be rotated into various positions. The locking assemblies act to keep the frame in a rotated position determined by the specific placement of the indexing holes through which the locking assemblies are inserted.

    • A hose nozzle comprising a tubular body having female threads on one end portion thereof. The tubular body provides a hand grip portion adjacent the one end portion suitable to be grasped in one hand with the thumb naturally extended into an actuating position on an opposite end of the hand grip portion. The tubular body defines an interior water passage and has an inner annular ball valve seat facing toward the passage therein on which a ball valve is mounted for varying the flow rate of the water through the valve seat. A manually actuatable flow directing assembly is provided for receiving water flowing through the valve seat and for directing the same into variable stream formations. An actuating member is provided having a thumb-engaging portion extending in the actuating position for effecting pivotal movements of the actuating member about the pivotal axis of the ball valve by thumb engagement. The mounting of the ball valve and the actuating member is such that (1) the actuating member is retained in any position of pivotal movement into which it is moved by thumb engagement and (2) the ball valve is retained in a corresponding position for determining the variable flow rate of water under pressure through the valve seat.

    • A pop-up sprinkler assembly for installation within the ground and for manual connection from a position above ground with an above ground hose as a source of water pressure. The pop-up sprinkler assembly includes a housing structure having an annular opening and exterior suitable for installation within the ground in a fixed operative position. The housing structure has a inlet passageway communicating with the annular opening. A hose connector is in the passageway for connection to an above ground hose. A sprinkler head is mounted in the annular space that is generally at ground level when the sprinkler head is in a lower storage position. An annular seal is provided between the sprinkler head and the housing structure so that the communication of water pressure with the annular space results in water pressure-biased movement of the sprinkler head from the lower storage position to a raised operative position. The sprinkler has an outlet for directing water under pressure outwardly thereof onto the ground in a predetermined pattern.

    • A three component coupling assembly consisting essentially of plastic male and female coupling members and an annular seal. The female member has a male fitting engaging end portion formed with interior threads for cooperatively threadedly engaging a threaded male hose fitting. The remaining female coupling portion has a generally cylindrical interior periphery of a smaller diameter size defining at a position adjacent the inner end of the interior threads an annular shoulder. The interior periphery has formed therein a plurality of annularly spaced grooves extending from the outer end thereof through the annular shoulder and a corresponding plurality of correspondingly annularly spaced notches extending from the annular shoulder toward the outer end. The seal has an outer annular portion seaingly engaging an uninterrupted outer sealing surface of the shoulder and an inner annular portion extending over the notches and grooves formed in the shoulder. The male member has a female fitting engaging end portion formed with exterior threads and exterior gripping surfaces adjacent the inner end of the exterior threads. The remaining male coupling portion has a plurality of annular spaced lugs on the exterior periphery thereof adjacent the outer end thereof of a size to engage within the grooves and notches and an outwardly facing annular sealing surface on the outer extremity thereof operable when the lugs are engaged inwardly beyond the grooves and engaged within the notches to sealingly engage the inner annular portion of the resilient seal and to resiliently deflect the same in a direction away from the shoulder.

    • A two-piece adjustable dial assembly between a link and a water discharge tube of a sprinkler for causing the rotational movement of the water driven shaft of the sprinkler to be transmitted through the link to the water discharge tube in any selected one of a plurality of different oscillatory cycles of movement. The two-piece adjustable dial assembly includes an arm member molded of plastic material having a mounting portion fixedly secured to the water discharge tube and a cylindrical portion having an axis disposed parallel to the oscillatory axis of said water discharge tube, and a dial member molded of plastic material extending through the cylindrical portion of the arm member and rotatable with respect thereto about the axis thereof. The dial member has a knob portion manually engageable to effect rotation of the dial member, a pivotal connection with the other end of the link and an elongated resilient cantilevered latching portion formed integrally with the dial member. The cylindrical portion has notched surfaces receiving the free end of the resilient latching portion for yieldingly retaining the dial member in any selected one of a plurality of positions of rotational movement corresponding to the selected oscillatory cycle of movement.
