In response to a first force applied to the second radially disposed side and the at least one rotary piston, the at least one rotary piston is displaceable to urge the adjustment ring in a first circumferential direction along the first ramp such that the adjustment rings displaces in a first axial direction away from the piston plate.

摘要： A launch device for a vehicle transmission includes a housing, an impeller, a turbine; and first and second clutches. The first and second clutches include first and second pistons, respectively. The first and second pistons are sealingly engaged with one another. The first clutch releaseably engages the impeller with the housing and the second clutch releaseably engages the turbine with the first piston. In an example embodiment, the first clutch is disposed radially outside of the second clutch and at least a portion of the first piston is disposed axially between the housing and the second piston. In an example embodiment, the first clutch is engaged by a first pressure, and the second clutch is engaged by a second pressure greater than the first pressure.

摘要： The present invention broadly comprises a stator and clutch assembly in a torque converter. The stator has a segment radially disposed between stator blades and a stator axis. The one-way clutch has a plate connected to a hub. The segment forms a portion of the clutch and the stator is axially displaceable to control operation of the clutch. A displacement element urges the stator in a first axial direction. The stator is arranged to move in a second axial direction, opposite the first axial direction, in response to pressure from fluid in the torque converter. In some aspects, the displacement element is selected from the group consisting of a coil spring and a wave spring. In some aspects, the one-way clutch is arranged to disengage when the stator is sufficiently displaced in the first direction and to engage when the stator is sufficiently displaced in the second direction.

The torque converter also includes at least one vibration damping means. The damping means is operatively connected to the torsional input and disposed in the converter such that the torsional input passes through the at least one vibration damping means when the input is coupled to the pump. The present invention also broadly comprises a torque transmitting apparatus, comprising a torque converter, a first input shaft for a dual-input gearbox, and, means for coupling the converter and the input shaft.
