摘要： A safety system receives access monitoring information from sensors to detect intrusion into a mutual exclusion zone by either an operator or mechanical equipment. The border of the mutual exclusion zone is segmented into portals that allow both the operator and equipment to access a common work area such as for loading material. When intrusion into one of the portals is detected, intrusion into any other selected portals triggers a safety violation. Access to the mutual exclusion zone via the other portals is prohibited until the interior of the zone is determined to be empty again.

摘要： An amorphous diamond coating applied onto mirrored optics in an infrared motion sensor to block specific wavelengths of energy from a nullwhite lightnull source like a halogen lamp, without reducing the reflectivity of the mirror surface in the Mid-Infrared wavelengths. A specific thickness of diamond-like-coating is applied on top of the reflective metal surface of a mirrored part, thereby reducing the mirror's reflectivity at visible and near-Infrared wavelengths known to be problematic for IR motion sensors, such as those emitted from halogen lamps. The coating has no significant detrimental effect on mid-infrared reflectivity, so the IR motion sensor's performance is otherwise unaffected.

摘要： A microbeam interconnection method is provided to connect integrated circuit bond pads to substrate contacts. Conductive leads (microbeams) are releasably formed, by a process such as electroplating or vacuum deposition, over a release layer deposited on a ceramic, glass or similar carrier. The microbeam material adheres only very weakly to the release layer. After the inner ends of the microbeams have been bonded to IC bond pads, such as by flip chip bump bonding, and the integrated circuit has been fully tested, the IC is lifted away from the carrier, causing the microbeams to peel away from the release layer. After straightening the microbeams against a flat surface, the outer ends of the microbeams may then be bonded to contacts on an MCM or other substrate. The method permits full electrical testing at speed and high speed bonding. The method significantly reduces mechanical stresses in interconnect bonds and thereby improves integrated circuit reliability.

摘要： A focus control system for a still camera includes a photoelectric amplifier and a high frequency spatial filter. The filter is arranged to scan the image region of a fixed focus lens as the taking lens of the camera is moved from an extended position toward the infinity position thereof. During a first portion of the scanning movement the filter provides an initial signal representative of the brightness of the imaging light bundles for automatic gain control. The gain of a photosensitive detector is initially set during this period. During a second portion of the scanning movement, the filter moves through the image space and continues to provide a signal for adjusting the gain of the detector. This signal has a maximum amplitude as the filter passes through the actual image. A change of slope detector senses this position and actuates a mechanical stop to freeze the position of the taking lens at that position. It is contemplated that the shutter of the camera would then be released to initiate the exposure.
