    • A fuel pump includes a pump housing having a compression chamber. A plunger is axially movable in the pump housing for pressurizing fuel in the compression chamber. A discharge valve is configured to open to supply fuel from the compression chamber to an internal combustion engine when pressure in the compression chamber is more than predetermined pressure. A fuel passage is configured to communicate a downstream of the discharge valve with an upstream of the discharge valve. An in-passage member is accommodated in the fuel passage. The in-passage member includes multiple members, which are combined to define a throttle portion for restricting fuel, which returns from the downstream of the discharge valve to the upstream of the discharge valve.

    • The conventional linear drive apparatus has the problem that in constructing a linear motor of a multiphase structure by connecting a plurality of armature units, the length of the armature becomes longer in proportion to the number of the phases, thus limiting the locations where the apparatus can be installed. The problem is solved by a linear drive apparatus comprising a plurality of armature units 3 formed by a magnetic material on which a conductor coil 4 is disposed, and an armature comprising an arrangement of the armature units 3. The armature units 3 comprise a plurality of opposing portions having opposing magnetic pole teeth. The magnetic pole teeth of adjacent opposing portions are arranged in an interdigitated manner. A secondary member 6 is disposed between magnetic pole teeth of the opposing portions. The armature units 3 comprise the coil 4 arranged on opposite sides thereof in an alternating manner.

    • In prior art linear motor, since magnetic attractive force acts in one direction between an armature and a moving member, heavy burden is imposed on a supporting mechanism of the moving member, distorting the structure and causing various troubles. Inventive linear motor includes a stator having armature winding and moving member having permanent magnets arranged to move relatively. The linear motor stator includes rink-like cores, armature teeth and armature winding to constitute a magnetic circuit. Slit grooves are disposed in the armature teeth opposite to both of the obverse and reverse sides of the permanent magnets of the moving member through air gap and protrusion members movable along the slit grooves of the armature teeth and a member having the permanent magnets include a part in contact with other members, the part being made of material having high endurance.
