    • The invention relates an arrangement for the mounting of exhaust gas lines which are arranged in an exhaust gas-tight space, and serve for the transfer of the combustion gases from the exhaust openings of the cylinder heads to the exhaust gas manifold. By reason of the high temperature load of the exhaust gas lines which are not cooled in the exhaust gas-tight space, the mounting is so constructed that no compulsory forces can occur which stem from the temperature strain. This is achieved by a point-shaped mounting of flanges connected with the exhaust gas lines at only one circumferential place each. The single point fastening assures a radial and axial expansion possibility of the exhaust gas lines under thermal load free of compulsory forces. The exhaust gas lines are threadably secured each by means of fastening bolts within the area of the ends of the cylinder head side preferably at the cylinder head or at wall parts of the components forming the exhaust gas-tight space. The fastening by means of bolts is safe and space-saving.

    • A reciprocating internal combustion engine which includes several exhaust gas turbochargers, with one or more of the exhaust gas turbochargers being adapted to be disconnected during partial load operation of the engine. A blocking device such as, for example, a flap, a valve, or the like is arranged in an exhaust gas duct and in an intake duct of each disconnectible exhaust gas turbocharger. For a connection or disconnection of the respective exahust gas turbochargers, the exhaust gas blocking device is opened or closed, respectively, arbitrarily or under control of operating parameters of the internal combustion engine. An operating or coupling connection is provided between the exhaust gas blocking device and the supercharger air blocking device. The connection permits, upon a connection of the exhaust gas turbocharger, with the supercharger air blocking device still being closed, an opening of the exhaust gas blocking device only up to an intermediate position at which the rotational speed of the non-conveying or inoperative turbocharger is limited to permissible values, and permitting a further opening of the exhaust gas blocking device only together with or after an opening of the supercharging air blocking device.

    • During the starting and possibly at partial load, the diesel internal combustion engine operates in the so-called divided operation, whereby some cylinders (7 to 12) operate without fuel supply as compressors and supply compressed air to the cylinders (1 to 6) operating as engine. For example, the compressor cylinder (8) is connected with the engine cylinder (5) by way of a line (13) independent of the customary suction and exhaust lines, which includes at its one end in the proximity of the compressor cylinder (8) a donor valve (22) adapted to be controllably opened in the divided operation and at its other end in the proximity of the engine cylinder (5) a receiver valve (23). Each of the receiver valves (23) is combined with a device for the opening at will of the respectively associated line (13) in the direction of the compressor cylinder (14), whereby the opening control of the lines (13) by the devices takes place during the exhaust stroke of the coordinated engine cylinder (16 ). An exhaust gas return from the engine cylinders (1 to 6) to the compressor cylinders (7 to 12) is attained thereby and a temperature increase in the compressor cylinders is achieved with divided operation of the diesel internal combustion engine.

    • A propulsion arrangement which includes two diesel engines with one of the two engines having a first compression ratio for ensuring a reliable starting and the second engine having a compression ratio that permits high supercharging and high average pressure. Each of the engines include an exhaust supercharger with surplus exhaust from the exhaust driven supercharger of the first engine being supplied to the second engine to prepare an air charge of the second engine for reliable ignition conditions in a partial load operation of the second engine. A device may be provided for heating up the air charge of the second engine at least in one of an idling and partial load operation with a temperature regulator controlling the temperature of the air charge of the second engine so as to set the temperature for the air charge such that at each rpm a final compression temperature exists in the cylinders of the second engine which is necessary for ignition in that engine. A common cooling circuit is provided for the second engine, which circuit includes a common main heat exchanger having a coolant pump driven by the first engine. An air charge cooler is associated with both the first and second engine and a supplementary heat exchanger may be provided for cooling the coolant in the circuit of the engine prior to entering the air charge cooler associated with the second engine. The engines may be arranged one behind the other with at least one of a rigid or elastic connection between the respective crank shafts of the engine, or the engines may be disposed laterally adjacent one another with a coupling being provided between the engines so as to result in a collective drive.
