摘要： A bolt-ring pipe connector system for connecting stub end pipe particularly thermoplastic pipe is shown. The bolt-ring has an outer vertical rim portion, an inner vertical rim portion and an interconnecting web portion provided with spaced bolt holes. The top side of the bolt-ring has a beveled and angular top surface. The bottom side of the bolt-ring has a contoured recess that provides a variable cross sectional diameter. The new, deformable, variable geometry, hollowed, bolt-ring can be flexed by slight deformations under constant bolt-load. As a result, all anticipated initial and operating changes in high-density polyethylene stub-end dimensions, such as those caused by bolt-up and thermal strain, are managed by the bolt-ring.

摘要： A pipe coupling is shown for coupling adjacent ends of a pair of pipe sections where one of the pipe sections is formed of a polyolefin and the other pipe section is formed of a different material. The coupling includes an adapter formed of a length of pipe having a polyolefin pipe wall, the adapter having a fusing end for fusing to a successive length of polyolefin pipe and a coupling end. The coupling end has an integral flange which defines a bell end opening for the adapter. The bell end opening has a first region of reduced internal diameter for receiving a sealing gasket. The bell end opening also has a second region of further reduced internal diameter which forms a circumferential shoulder region therein for receiving a male spigot end of a mating pipe which is formed of the different material. A rigid reinforcing ring circumscribes an outer peripheral surface of the adapter flange in order to strengthen the connection when the spigot end of a mating male pipe is inserted within the bell end opening of the adapter to form the pipe coupling.

摘要： A method and apparatus for lining a host pipe with a shape memory polymer liner in which the liner is fed through a manufacturing assembly including a pipe tensioner, followed by a deformation tool, prior to entering the host pipe, the liner being pulled through the host pipe from a leading end, the component parts of the manufacturing assembly acting to temporarily reduce the liner outside diameter during the pulling operation, while allowing the liner to revert to at least the internal diameter of the host pipe upon removal of the pulling load. The liner being used is a shape memory polymer which exhibits the ability to return from a deformed shape to an original shape induced by an external stimulus.

摘要： In order to prevent collapse and stress cracking of heat transfer devices, such as those devices utilized in solar energy systems, a container, particularly one made of plastic, is partially filled with a solid or liquid heat transfer medium which evaporates and condenses over the working temperature range of the device, in an amount sufficient to leave a void space in the device at the highest temperature to which the device is subjected, an inert, solidifiable or liquifiable pressurizing material, such as solid carbon dioxide, which undergoes phase transition to a gaseous state at a temperature at least as high as the lowest temperature to which the device is subjected, in an amount sufficient to create a positive pressure within the void space at the lowest temperature to which the device is subjected, is added and the container is sealed to produce a gas and vapor impervious device. A heat transfer device manufactured in this manner is also disclosed.

摘要： A wound treatment-dressing is shown which includes a dressing body formed from a medically inert, moisture permeable, urethane open-cell foam which is hydrophilic in nature. The foam body has a foam matrix of interconnected foam cells with cell walls which have incorporated therein a combination of inorganic antimicrobials as active agents, the active agents being incorporated into the foam matrix both topically on a foam cell surface and integrally within the foam cell wall. The antimicrobials are manufactured in a selected particle size range which improves predictability and performance of the wound dressing.
