    • A heat recovery device for use with a portable incinerator. The heat recovery device comprises first and second legs which support a heat exchanger thereon. An air flow path is formed from the bottom to the top of the first leg, through the heat exchanger and from the top to the bottom of the second leg. An open space is provided between the two legs and below the heat exchanger. A portable incinerator may be placed within this open space. When solid waste is burned within the incinerator, the exhaust port of the incinerator lies below the heat exchanger. A blower attached to the lower portion of the first leg creates air flow through the heat recovery device such that the air is heated in the heat exchanger by heat produced from the exhaust port of the portable incinerator. A tube is then coupled to the second leg in order to direct the heated air flow to the interior of an adjacent building. The present invention therefore allows solid waste to be burned and the heat thereby produced is recovered for heating of the building. However, it is not necessary to exit the building every time it is desired to dispose of solid waste. Instead, the solid waste is collected within the portable incinerator inside the building and the portable incinerator is installed in the heat recovery device only when a sufficient quantity of solid waste has been collected for incineration.

    • A system for detecting and transmitting body electrical signals in the presence of ambient electrical interference that uses a transmiter circuit including an amplifier coupled to and in close proximity to two or more body electrodes, a light pulse generator that receives its input from that amplifier and provides a pulse-duration-modulated series of light pulses, and a remote receiver including a transducer which demodulates the transmitted light pulses into electrical pulses of corresponding duration and frequency and a demodulator which accepts those electrical pulses and produces an amplified replica of the original signal developed between the body electrodes, thereby effectively providing complete electrical isolation of the electrode amplifier from the remaining bioelectrical signal analysis equipment. A valuable additional feature of the invention is a complete electrostatic shield around the amplifier-transmitter as well as the electode leads, so that the small amount of residual capacitive coupling to the amplifier circuit itself is effectively shunted to the same average (body) potential as that of the electrodes.

    • An apparatus in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) system monitors the actual wafer/substrate temperature during the deposition process. The apparatus makes possible the production of high quality aluminum oxide films with real-time wafer/substrate control. An infrared (IR) temperature monitoring device is used to control the actual wafer temperature to the process temperature setpoint. This eliminates all atmospheric temperature probing. The need for test runs and monitor waters as well as the resources required to perform the operations is eliminated and operating cost are reduced. High quality, uniform films of aluminum oxide can be deposited on a silicon substrates with no need for additional photolithographic steps to simulate conformality that are present in a sputtered (PVD) type application. The result is a reduction in required process steps with subsequent anticipated savings in equipment, cycle time, chemicals, reduce handling, and increased yield of devices on the substrate. The apparatus incorporates a heated source material, heated delivery lines, heated inert gas purge lines, a pressure differential mass flow controller, a control system with related valving, and a vacuum process chamber with walls that are temperature controlled as a complete source delivery system to accurately and repeatably provide source vapor for LPCVD deposition of aluminum oxide onto silicon substrates.

    • A dual drum skimmer is provided for the removal and recovery of oil floating on water. The skimmer includes two oil pick-up drums arranged along a common axis which pick up oil and deposit it in a collection trough. Oil deposited in the collection trough is directed to a reservoir trough arranged on the opposite side of the drums from the collection trough. The drums are formed as hollow, closed cylinders and, together with the reservoir trough, provide the total buoyancy necessary to float the skimmer. The skimmer is particularly effective in shallow and in trash laden water and can operate in water depths of as little as three inches.
