    • A method for operating a printing press, which enables a uniform print quality to be achieved during long periods of operation without replacement of the impression cylinder. The printing press comprises several printing units having impression cylinders and a sheet turning device disposed between the printing units. The circumferential surface of the impression cylinder has an ink-repelling surface. The printing press is used to print sheets, until the ink-repelling surface of the circumferential surface of the impression cylinder has been worn away to an extent that the ink-repelling effect is less than a predetermined threshold value, after which a foil, of which the side facing away from the circumferential surface has an ink-repelling surface, is removably placed on the circumferential surface of the impression cylinder.

    • A device is provided for feeding sheets of a sheet stack pressing against front edge stops to a printing cylinder using transport suction devices, which engage a particular uppermost sheet in the area of the sheet rear edge and bring it in a conveyance direction, sheet transport means and sheet acceleration means downstream therefrom being provided between the front edge stops and the printing cylinder. The object of the invention is to provide a device for feeding sheets which occupies little installation space, maybe implemented using simple means, and does not disadvantageously influence the productivity of the machine which processes sheets. The object is achieved according to the invention in that the sheet acceleration means (43) are directly downstream from the front edge stops (7).

    • The invention relates to a method for ink supply to ink trays in printing presses, whereby the printing press has for ink supply an ink tray, which is adjoined with an in ball cooperating with ink dosing elements. Task of the invention is to provide a method and an apparatus for zonal ink dosage according to the ink requirements and an extensive residue-free emptied ink tray at job end or job change. The task is solved according the invention by stopping the ink supply before the end of the printing job. This moment is determined so, that a minimum amount of ink sufficient for the to be processed product volume remains in the ink tray at the pre-determined job end and the ink is shifted from ink zones or ink zone groups with lesser ink consumption to ink zones or ink zone groups with momentarily higher ink consumption for processing of the remaining printing job.
