    • A high density ribbon cable connector includes bipartite strain relief halves adapted to trap between them a high density ribbon cable. The strain relief halves and ribbon are snap latchable into position within a fixture housing with the cable extending through an elongate slot in the fixture housing, and adjacent to a fixture face having conductor aligning grooves emanating from and faning out in opposite directions from the elongate slot. The grooves form a template for the positioning of the conductors for accurate alignment prior to termination. The fixture housing also includes terminal clearance slots aligned with each groove, where two rows of clearance slots are provided on each side of the slot. The fixture housing is snap latchable into a terminal housing, where conductor receiving slots of electrical terminals are inserted into the terminal clearance slots, and electrically terminate the conductors to the electrical terminals.

    • A zero insertion force connector capable of high density interconnection is formed by a pair of contact assemblies each actuated by a respective cam assembly and mounted in a housing. Each contact assembly is formed by first and second elongated rigid contact members held in spaced relationship by several strips of terminals formed by plural terminals fixed in parallel spaced array on an insulative web. One contact member is fixed to a mother circuit board and the other contact member is engaged by the cam assembly which interacts with the walls of the housing to drive the other contact member normal to the surface of a daughter circuit board received in the connector.

    • An electrical switch of the dual-in-line package type comprises a dielectric housing having a recess in a top surface thereof. Stationary electrical contact members are sealingly secured in the housing at spaced intervals along opposed sides of the housing as opposed pairs of contact members. Inner contact sections of the contact members are located within the recess and outer contact sections of the contact members extend outwardly from the housing. Bow-shaped movable contact members are secured to dielectric operating members for electrically connecting respective pairs of contact members in a first position and for disconnecting the pairs of contact members in a second position. A cover member is sealingly secured onto the top surface of the housing and openings extend through the cover member. An operating section of the operating members extends through a respective one of the openings and the operating members include flexible cover sections covering the movable contact members. Detent members on the inside surface of the cover member and on the cover sections of the operating members to maintain the operating members in the first or second position.

    • An actuating mechanism comprises a housing having top and sides with openings in the sides that extend into the top. A bottom member is latchably secured to the housing. A rocker member is mounted in the housing and is rockably moved about pie-shaped pivots. A leaf spring is disposed in a slot in the rocker member and extends across a central bore therein. A button is movably located in the central bore and is spring biased into engagement with the bottom member via the leaf spring which also biases the rocker member against an inside top surface of the housing. Actuating arms extend outwardly from the rocker member and through the openings for actuating the rocker member. Stop surfaces of the rocker member engage the inside top surface of the housing to limit movement of the rocker member.

    • A terminal device such as a terminal post has a retaining portion comprising opposed outwardly formed spring members which are flexible toward each other upon movement of the retaining portion into a hole having a diameter which is less than the maximum transverse dimension of the retention portion so that the terminal device is held in the hole. The retention portion is formed by shearing a blank and displacing material on opposing sides of the shear line in opposite directions parallel to the plane of shearing. Thereafter, the displaced portions are further displaced laterally away from each other and normally of the plane of shearing so that they are separated. Finally, the two displaced portions are formed parallel to the plane of shearing in opposite directions towards each other until they are substantially co-planar.

    • A one piece stamped and formed connector clip for connecting cable conductors to conductors on a circuit board comprises parallel spaced-apart co-planar support strips and a clip bar which extends between the support strips in a plane offset from the plane of the support strips. A plurality of cantilever springs extend from the clip bar obliquely towards and past the plane of the support strips. When the connector clip is mounted on a circuit board in straddling relationship to the circuit board conductors, and with the support strips against the circuit board, the springs will be pre-loaded against the circuit board conductors. The end of the cable is passed beneath the clip bar and pushed under the spring fingers so that the spring fingers urge the conductors of the cable against the circuit board conductors.
