    • A method for performing a dental articulation test and a related test kit are provided. In preferred embodiments, the method includes applying a first chemical component of a binary marking system to at least one tooth of a patient or articulation device. A substrate sheet that contains a coating of microcapsules disposed on at least one side thereof, with at least some of the microcapsules containing a second chemical component of the binary marking system is inserted into the patient's mouth or the articulation device. The first and second arches of the patient or articulation device are then caused to occlude over the substrate, thereby causing formation of a visible mark at the occlusion contact points. The dental articulation kit includes the substrate sheet, an applicator for applying the first chemical component of the binary marking system to teeth, and a quantity of the first chemical component of the binary marking system sufficient to apply to at least one tooth.

    • The present invention is a novel process, with or without solvent, for manufacture of compounds of the formula 1 wherein P is selected from phenyl and naphthyl; wherein R1 and R2 and R3 are each independently selected from hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aralkyl, aralkoxy, halogen, alkoxyalkoxy, and aralkoxyalkoxy; wherein R5 is selected from substituted or unsubstituted phenyl, and substituted or unsubstituted naphthyl, the substituents being each independently selected from alkyl (C1-C8), alkoxy (C1-C8), aroxy, aralkoxy (C1-C8) and halogen. The process comprises reacting substituted phenols or naphthols of the formula 2 with ethylene carbonate in the presence of a first catalyst selected from metal halide, quarternary ammonium halide and quarternary phosphonium halide thereby forming an intermediate of the formula 3 then reacting the intermediate with a first compound selected from alkyl or aralkylhalide, alkyl or aralkyl sulfate, and alkyl or aralkyl sulfonate together with a metal hydroxide in the presence of a second catalyst, the second catalyst selected from quarternary ammonium salt or quarternary phosphonium salt.

    • Improved control of continuous processes that handle liquids. Data generated by this invention is used to control gas contents of liquids within optimum ranges, for instance in paper coating processes and in the manufacture of food products (ketchup), personal care products (shampoo), paints, and in any industry where information on entrained and/or dissolved gases, and related parameters such as true density of and gas solubility in process liquids, is employed to optimize processing. The amount of gas in a liquid is determined by subjecting a mixture of an incompressible liquid sample and a compressible gas to three or more different equilibrium pressure states, measuring the temperature and volume of the mixture at each of the pressure states, determining the changes in volume of the mixture between at least two different pairs of pressure states, and calculating the amount of gas in the liquid sample. The inventive apparatus includes: a reservoir for process fluid; piping through which fluid may be pumped, the piping being under the control of a pressure regulator which is capable of setting at least three different pressures P1, P2, and P3 in the apparatus; at least three fluid control valves V1, V2, and V3; a pressure gauge; a temperature gauge; and a density gauge.

    • A method of producing an improved insulated container stock, such as a cup is disclosed comprising the steps of providing a sheet of polymeric foam having a first surface and second surface; providing a paper sheet suitable for cup stock; extruding a molten polyethylene polymer or copolymer into a molten sheet of film directed between the paper sheet and a first surface of the foam sheet to form a three layer laminate of foam, film, and paper; directing the three layer laminate into a nip having a preset gap; pressing the layers of the three layer laminate entering the nip into adherent contact as the molten film solidifies to form a laminate of substantially uniform caliper exiting the nip; extruding a molten polymer, preferably a heat shrinkable polymer, as a fourth layer forming a molten sheet of film directed onto a second surface of the foam of the three layer laminate to form a four layer laminate of polyethylene film, foam, polyethylene film and paper; directing the four layer laminate into an additional nip having a preset gap; pressing the layers of the four layer laminate entering the nip into adherent contact as the molten polymer, preferably heat shrinkable polymer, solidifies; forming the four layer laminate into a container wall for surrounding an interior space, adding a bottom portion to form a cup, and optionally heat treating the formed cup to shrink the fourth layer of the four layer laminate.
