    • A printing system includes a first printing machine that is provided in the form of a newspaper printing machine and which comprises at least two first printing units that are provided in the form of printing towers and with a number of printing machines arranged one above the other for effecting double-sided printing of a substrate in multiple colors. A first folding funnel is arranged in a machine exit of these first printing units. A second printing machine is provided with at least one second printing unit and with a dryer that is situated in the machine exit of the second printing unit. The at least one second printing unit is positioned with respect to its printing location, and when viewed from above, is arranged next to the machine exit of the first printing units provided in the form of printing towers. A web, or a partial web, which has been printed by the second printing unit, and which has passed through the dryer, can be diverted by 90° from a direction of conveyance that is perpendicular to a machine exit and can be guided in a direction of conveyance that is parallel to the machine exit.

    • A printing unit has at least one press unit having a plate cylinder with at least one printing plate that can be mounted on the plate cylinder and which carries a printing image. The plate cylinder has at least one cylinder channel in which ends of the printing plate can be fixed or positioned. The printing plate has a leading angled end and also has a trailing angled end, as viewed in the direction of rotation of the printing cylinder during operation of the printing press. The printing plate can be secured to the plate cylinder by insertion of the plate leading end into the cylinder channel and by insertion of the plate trailing end into the same, or another cylinder channel. Initially, the plate trailing end is fixed in its associated cylinder channel and the plate cylinder is rotated in a rotational direction counter to a production direction. The leading plate end is then fixed in its associated cylinder channel during continued rotation of the plate cylinder opposite to a production direction. Once the printing plate is secured, the printing cylinder is rotated in its production direction.

    • A printing unit is comprised of at least two side frame parts whose distance, relative to each other, can be modified in a horizontal direction. Each printing unit receives at least one printing group or parts of a printing group. At least one of the side frame parts can be moved between a closed functional position, in which the side frames are moved together and are fixed relative to one another, and an open position, in which they are spaced from each other. In order to fix or to secure the side frame parts relative to one another, at lease one closure device is provided. The at least one closure device is comprised of a cylinder that can be used to pretension the side frame parts into the closed functional position. The cylinder carries a piston rod that is adapted to carry out a stroke movement. The closure device is configured as a swivel tensioning element. The piston rod is arranged such that it carries out a pivoting movement about a longitudinal axis of the piston rod, in addition to the stroke movement. The piston rod may also be pivoted about a longitudinal arm of the piston rod, in addition to the stroke movement.

    • A method of pumping liquid from a container to a destination comprises the steps of connecting a foot operable air pump in sealed air-delivery relation to the container; connecting a liquid delivery hose in sealed liquid receiving-relation to the container at the aperture such that the inlet end of the liquid delivery hose is submerged in liquid in the container, the liquid delivery hose having a hand operable valve for controlling the flow of the liquid through the liquid delivery hose; and operating the foot operable air pump by a foot, so as to pump air into the container, and operating the hand operable valve by a hand, so as to cause the liquid to flow from the container, through the liquid delivery hose, and to the destination. A related system, fitting, and adapter are also disclosed.
