A low moment of inertia of the middle bob is desirable because it minimizes tangling of the string about the middle bob and produces smooth, tactile-appealing orbits. Each bob has a pair of mated throughbore pieces sandwiching a central metal weight and an equatorial bag stuffed with low-density pellets. Concave sections (in profile on a plane along the polar axis) of the throughbore occupy a substantial portion of the length of the throughbore to take best advantage of the torques produced by the string by focusing the tension of the string at the mouths of the throughbore. The concave sections also reduce the volume occupied by the bag, thereby reducing moment of inertia. Additionally, hollows in the concave regions of the throughbore pieces further reduce the moment of inertia.

摘要： A digital-to-analog converter which improves dynamic range by apportioning a least significant bits portion of an incoming digital signal to a low-path circuit and a most significant bits portion of the incoming digital signal to a high-path circuit. The low-path circuit has a low-path digital-to-analog converter, which feeds a low-path resistive element, which feeds an output node. The high-path circuit has a high-path digital-to-analog converter, which feeds a high-path resistive element, which feeds an output node. The output node is a simple electrical connection of the outputs of the low-path and high-path resistive elements. The system can further improve dynamic range by providing a high-path amplifier with control element(s) which reduce or eliminate high-path noise from the output node. Further dynamic range improvement is realized when the high-path control system takes advantage of the effects of psychoacoustic masking. Performance linearity is improved by a feedback system which monitors the output signal.

The even number of bobs on the string allows for configurations with a symmetrical weight distribution so that one bob may act as an exact counterweight to the other bob.

摘要： A bow and arrow toy having a light-weight, foam tipped arrow and a bow with rear and fore tension bands. To load and arm the toy, the rear of the arrow is abutted against the rear tension band and the shaft of the arrow is pressed against the fore tension band and drawn back. As the arrow is drawn back, the shaft of the arrow slides against the fore tension band until the fore tension band falls into an engagement slot along the shaft, causing the fore tension band to also become engaged and tensioned as the arrow is drawn back further. At the fore outside edge of the engagement slot is a catch lip which protrudes outwards from the shaft and functions to guide the fore tension band into the engagement slot if the pressure of the shaft against the fore tension band is not sufficient to cause the fore tension band to slide directly into the engagement slot. The fore tension band is comprised of three interlinked loops, with the central loop being sleeved so as to narrow its effective diameter. The front profile of the fore tension band, from top to bottom, slants rearward, is vertical and slants forward, thereby providing physical guidance for proper horizontal orientation of the arrow. The sleeved central loop differs in color from the top and bottom loops of the fore tension band to facilitate proper horizontal orientation of the arrow.

摘要： Taps on a beam-interrupt button of an underwater signaling transceiver are encoded as binary frequency shift-key modulated Golay codes, which are transmitted via 56-58 kHz compression waves generated by a ring-shaped electromechanical transducer. Light emitting diodes flash to signal the content of received signals and provide monitoring of the distance between divers. All components of the transceiver—except outer portions of input/output leads and a suction cup for attaching to the transceiver to a diver's mask—are completely encased in transparent plastic. The input/output leads allow an internal battery to be recharged, provide access to the internal processor for programming and data retrieval, and monitor whether the transceiver is submerged so that the transceiver can operate in an underwater mode or an above-water mode. Transceivers only communicate with other transceivers which use the same communication channel. Transceivers monitor their separation distances and flash a warning signal when nearing an out-of-range condition.

摘要： A swinging bob toy having an outer bob and middle bob on a string, with the middle bob having a bore through which the string passes to allow the middle bob to slide along the string. The middle bob has a substantially toroidal, liquid-containing bladder. The mass of the liquid contributes substantially to the overall mass of the middle bob, but the viscosity of the liquid and the dimensions of the bore of the toroid are such that the dynamic moment of inertia (i.e., a moment of inertia dependent on linear and/or rotational velocity and/or acceleration, of a history thereof) is small as the middle bob begins its rotation as the outer bob passes the top of its orbit. The viscosity of the liquid is small enough that as the outer bob traverses the top of its orbit the dynamic moment of inertia is small and the string does not tangle about the middle bob, yet large enough that as the outer bob traverses the bottom of its orbit the rotation of the middle bob is slowed and the string tension does not exhibit a rapid peak.

摘要： Method and apparatus for automated operations, such as pruning, harvesting, spraying and/or maintenance, on plants, and particularly plants with foliage having features on many length scales or a wide spectrum of length scales, such as female flower buds of the marijuana plant. The invention utilizes a convolutional neural network for image segmentation classification and/or the determination of features. The foliage is imaged stereoscopically to produce a three-dimensional surface image, a first neural network determines regions to be operated on, and a second neural network determines how an operation tool operates on the foliage. For pruning of resinous foliage the cutting tool is heated or cooled to avoid having the resins make the cutting tool inoperable.
