    • A node device for providing secure communication services over a data network, such as the Internet or another public or private packet switched network, to multiple computers that are coupled through the node device and multiple other node devices. The node device includes a network communication interface for coupling the node device to the data network. The node device includes a data storage containing cryptographic information including information that is unique to the node device. The node device also includes a tunneling communication service coupled to the network interface configured to maintaining an encrypted communication tunnel with each of multiple other node devices using the cryptographic information. For example, the encrypted communication tunnels are implemented using the IPsec or PPTP protocols. The node device includes a routing database for holding routing data and a router coupled to the tunneling communication service and to the routing database. The router can pass communication from one communication tunnel to another. A centralized server can be used to control the node devices in a centralized manner, thereby reducing or eliminating on-site administration of node devices.

    • A lighting control technology for a discharge lamp can be capable of suppressing start-up variations of luminous flux in consideration of variations in lamp voltage. A discharge lamp lighting apparatus can include a lamp voltage detection circuit and a lamp current detection circuit for detecting a lamp voltage and a lamp current of a discharge lamp, respectively. The lamp can include a control circuit for performing a starting-time control for applying a current or power several times as high as a rated value of the lamp in order to light the discharge lamp substantially instantaneously, and a stable-time control for lighting the discharge lamp stably at substantially constant rated power. The lamp current or lamp power can be controlled from a starting time to a stable time in accordance with the voltage value detected by the lamp voltage detection circuit. The starting-time control can be switched to the stable-time control depending on an increase in the voltage value detected by the lamp voltage detection circuit from the starting time to the stable time and depending on a lapse of an arbitrary time.

    • A method for operating a combustion chamber (1) for a gas turbine. The combustion chamber (1) has a combustion space (2) and a plurality of burners (3), which are each arranged at an inlet (13) of the combustion space (2). The burners (3) are divided into two burner groups (4I, 4II). A common oxidant supply (5) is provided for all the burners (3).     • A light guiding unit is provided which can reflect light from one light source such that a plurality of irradiated lights can be intermittently viewed, while allowing substantially all portions of the plurality of irradiated lights to be substantially uniform. Each of the six light paths from the first reflecting portion up to the irradiation surfaces can be arranged so as to have a rotationally substantially symmetric relationship of 60° substantially centered on the principal optical axis.
