    • A bi-directional transient voltage suppression (“TVS”) device (101) includes a semiconductor die (201) that has a first avalanche diode (103) in series with a first rectifier diode (104) connected cathode to cathode, electrically coupled in an anti-parallel configuration with a second avalanche diode (105) in series with a second rectifier diode (106) also connected cathode to cathode. All the diodes of the TVS device are on a single semiconductor substrate (301). The die has a low resistivity buried diffused layer (303) having a first conductivity type disposed between a semiconductor substrate (301) having the opposite conductivity type and a high resistivity epitaxial layer (305) having the first conductivity type. The buried diffused layer shunts most of a transient current away from a portion of the epitaxial layer between the first avalanche diode and the first rectifier diode, thereby reducing the clamping voltage relative to the breakdown voltage. The TVS device is packaged as a flip chip (202) that has four solder bump pads (211-214).     • A digitizer pen (100) has a pressure sensor (104) that includes a flexible first printed component (600) and a flexible second printed component (700), on which are printed or otherwise disposed traces of non-carbon ink. The non-carbon ink on at least one of the printed components is a resistive non-carbon ink (606 and 706). The first printed component has a circular sensor section (602) that opposes a circular sensor section (702) of the second printed component. The non-carbon ink on the circular sensor section of at least one of the printed components forms a pattern of pie-shaped traces (711–716) symmetrical about a center (1000) of the circular sensor section. A stylus (130) transfers force from a writing tip (136) to the pressure sensor, at or near the center of the circular sensor section, either directly or through an elastomer (148), and presses the circular sensor sections together. The area of the non-carbon ink on one circular sensor section thereby pressed into intimate contact with the non-carbon ink on the other circular sensor section is proportional to the force. The pressure sensor has two terminals (901 and 902) electrically coupled to the inks on the circular sensor sections such that the electrical resistance between the terminals is proportional to the pressure. The electrical resistance is approximately the same when the stylus transfers a force at the center of the circular sensor section or when the stylus transfers the same force off-centered (1005). An electrical resistance versus force curve (1400) is selectable by preselecting the size or the shape, or both, of the ink traces of the pie-shaped pattern.     • A remotely controlled model airplane includes a receiver responsive to signals from a transmitter to control the direction of flight of the model airplane. The receiver, powered by a battery, demodulates the signal transmitted by the transmitter to selectively energize an electrical coil to generate a magnetic field of a first or second polarity. A rudder pivotally attached to the vertical stabilizer includes a magnet responsive to the magnetic fields generated and is urged in one direction or the other resulting in commensurate pivotal movement of the rudder. A hinge interconnecting the rudder and vertical stabilizer urges return to center of the rudder after it has been deflected left or right by the magnet responding to the magnetic field created as a result of a signal transmitted by the transmitter. An electric motor also under control of the transmitter and receiver may be incorporated to rotate a propeller to provide thrust and forward motion of the model airplane. By employing a transmitter to selectively transmit a plurality of signals, control surfaces of the model airplane can be deflected to provide 2-axis control to selectively alter the direction and pitch of the model airplane.

A cam plate and engagement roller index the spray bar orientation, while limiting spray bar rotation to a single direction. A wheel guide receives the front left vehicle wheel. Treadle switches in the wheel guide, in conjunction with an illuminated display, indicate to the user when the vehicle is properly indexed in the washing bay.

    • A hydraulic suction fuse is mounted in a conventional debris collection trap of a swimming pool, spa or the like, to significantly reduce or eliminate any suction force on the bottom or side wall mounted drain of the swimming pool, spa or the like, as a result of the drain becoming essentially wholly covered by a body part of a person or other drain clogging article. Alternatively, the hydraulic suction fuse may be mounted in a compartment in line between the drain and a suction pump of a swimming pool, spa or the like. Thereby, a person captured by the suction force at the drain will be released and the person is free to move away from the drain essentially instantaneously upon contact with the drain. In one embodiment, the hydraulic suction fuse is self resetting once inflow through the drain is no longer restricted. In another embodiment of the hydraulic suction fuse, the hydraulic suction fuse may be easily manually reset.
