    • An interchangeable variable aperture lens can be used as an automatic lens with a camera body using digital signal control and with a camera body using analog signal control, and as a manual lens. The lens has both digital and analogue circuits for providing signals, to different camera bodies, indicative of the full open and full closed values of the lens diaphragm. Digital and analogue signal contacts are so positioned on the lens that the coacting contacts of different camera bodies are engaged when the lens is mounted on the different bodies, provided that the mechanical mount is the same.

    • A joint restraint assembly for connecting pipe ends together, or to other objects, which includes a body encircling the pipe. The body has a plurality of cavities adjacent to the pipe with a segment configured to fit into each cavity. One or more threaded bores are disposed through the body into each cavity. A threaded bolt extends through each threaded bore to engage the segment in that cavity, and to pre-load the segment against the pipe when assembled thereon. Mechanical or pressure loading, tending to pull the pipe out of the restraint assembly, causes the segment to self actuate, and the application of increasing load causes a proportional increase to the force engaging the segment to the pipe. The joint restraint assembly reliably accommodates comparatively high levels of mechanical loading and/or pipe internal pressure, and does so without relying upon the limited force produced by the threaded bolt pre-load on the segments at the time of assembly.

    • A method for forming a electrical interconnections, according to the invention, comprises forming number of semiconductor circuit elements on one semiconductor substrate, depositing an electrically conductive layer on substantially the entire surface of the semiconductor substrate, etching the electrically conductive layer patterned by the photolithography, for example, coating a photoresist on the electrically conductive layer, placing a mask of a pattern of electrical connecting lines on the photoresist-coated conductive layer and exposing the assembly to actinic rays to effect a development treatment, then placing one electrode composed of the electrochemically same material as that of the electrically conductive layer so that at least one point of said one electrode is brought into contact with the electrically conductive layer, dipping the assembly in an etching solution while using as the other electrode an electric conductor composed of a material electrochemically different from the material of the electrically conductive layer, performing wet chemical etching of the electrically conductive layer while measuring an electric current flowing between the two electrodes, and terminating etching of the electrically conductive layer when said current largely decreases or continuing etching for a certain time after said current largely decreases and is reduced below a timely determined level whereby electrical interconnections are formed for the respective semiconductor circuit elements on the semiconductor substrate.

    • An appliance for adhering a sensing marker on a medium for recording information, such as a magnetic tape, comprising a case, removing rotor, and a guide way. The case has a cavity formed therein where the removing rotor is pivotally supported. The removing rotor also has a cavity therein where a marker roll is accommodated which is commercially available and which includes a backing liner and a plurality of pre-cut sensing markers adhered on the backing liner. The removing rotor has a station which is formed in a flat surface for receiving the backing liner withdrawn from the marker roll. An arc surface and a radial step are also provided with the removing roller. A location is formed on the case so that the magnetic tape is positioned there. A transfer block which has a rectangular shape is formed at the bottom thereof. Soft material which has a tendency to stick to the sensing marker is positioned on the block. The block is pressed to the sensing marker positioned on the flat surface of the removing rotor so that the sensing marker sticks to the soft material mounted on the block. Thereafter, the block together with the sensing marker is pressed to the magnetic tape and the sensing marker is adhered to the tape.
